Which is why I am now in trouble since my NOA1 was Jan. 9th. Sent all of that stuff today thinking that maybe I could still hear something today or Monday and if not, they would inquire and push our case along....only to read this now that I should not have bothered. I figured that it couldn't hurt--since it SHOULDN'T, you know?! I am just so disgusted. And I can't stand thinking of going back to the US alone and leaving him here waiting b/c I never know when something could happen to him and at least if I am here closeby, I can help him in whatever way possible but from a distance, all I could do would be to send money. And since we have been in the same city for the duration of our relationship--other than my 3 short trips to visit family--I don't know what it would be like to try to have a long-distance relationship. He doesn't have a computer or internet and doesn't know enough about computers even to go to an internet cafe and communicate with me that way, so when I am gone, all we have are expensive cell phone calls....I hate this feeling of being totally helpless...there is no good option, no answers, no good possibilities of anything.....just frustration and fear b/c we are living in the most dangerous country in the world. :crying:

So sorry to hear that. It sounds like a very tough situation. I can't imagine having to endure that separation without a stable platform for communication. The long distance thing can work. I've had to endure it most of the relationship, but it is very difficult. It continues to get harder. Hopefully, we'll all have a light at the end of the tunnel soon. We've all been very patient.

My main concern with it all is being pulled out of line and receiving a canned response. The have to respond but they do not have to approve immediately. The petition could idle on a desk for some indeterminate time after the inquiry response.

There is actually light at the end of the tunnel :-) We received NOA2 on June 8, 2012 (exactly 5 months less one day) I guess they are now working on the forgotten box, where our petition must have been as even Igor's list had given up on estimating our time, the first estimation being in late April and the last on May 28, 2012.

To the ones waiting for NOA2, the waiting is about to end....hopefully next week. You are in my prayers.

To those who have received NOA2, congratulations.

Yea, that would not be nice. I am just going to let go of it. I could try and call all 3 offices and catch up with all the right people and tell them I was crazy and didn't mean to send it, whatever, but in the end, I don't think I will ever know for sure if it speeds things up or slows them down.......b/c maybe it would just still keep sitting there waiting or maybe it would be approved faster if I didn't interfere...who knows...I won't know for sure either way...and something could still happen early next week......I really have no energy left to imagine the possibilities. What will be, will be. The damn thing is a monster and there is no way for us to control or tame it. We are just trapped in the cage with it, crying for mercy as it laughs in our faces...while growling at the same time ;)

It's funny how on their website they say "Each case is different, please check the current processing times for the I-129F petition, see the “Check Processing Times” link to the right.   We process fiancé(e) petitions in the order we receive them. Once we complete our processing, your approved petition is then forwarded to the National Visa Center (NVC). The NVC will then send the petition to the U.S. Embassy or consulate, which will need time to process your fiancé(e) for a visa."

I'm wondering do they even know that petitioners know the truth and if anyone mentioned that while calling them and asking for their status?

Would it be worth a try to say to them : I know you do not process the petition in order you receive them. Could it affect one's petition if doing so.

I think it was you sabi who mentioned this.

We had decided to follow the law and make it "the most legal" as we could and filed for fiancé visa instead of getting married on a tourist visa.

I wish we knew after almost 5 months we won't hear anything back ughhhh

119 days until our wedding... Hopefully we all get approvals within 2 week.

I am flying to us in 6 days and I would not mind ending this process by getting married. However I have master of law haha and even though I work in a way different area I still try to follow the rules haha

And what are we getting for that? Delays in process? No wondering ppl still get married on a tourist visa! It's way easier afterall :(

Okay so I just did a little bit of research on this whole "getting married under the VWP" thing and I'm totally baffled at the number of people who did it and had no problem applying for AOS even after overstaying. Apparently the law says, you are totally allowed to get married under the VWP and then apply for AOS as long as you did not intend to do it prior to entering the US. This has to be the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard...It doesn't make any sense! I'm pretty sure they are tons of couples who could lie about it and easily get away with it. Good for them but it's hard to swallow when we're all here waiting months after months away from our loved ones, just to be able to get married legally. I read lots of stories about couples not even being asked questions about the intent or the overstay during their interview...I'm certainly not gonna screw things up after almost 5 months into the process, but damn it, it definitely makes you think twice about it.

Yes, it is ridiculous that we want to do things legally and see what happens.. we are left to wait for months and months...

Apparently there are lawyers who even suggest skipping this part and just do the "less legal way".

With the current technology I don't understand why there is not a way to apply by sending an electronic file instead. Everything should be loaded up as pdf so there is no way of misplacing, missing things and automatically a background search could be requested at receipt of the file. Why is it even so important that a signature is an original one when it is now legal a signature sent via email?!

It would all be more bearable if it was a process that requires max 3/4 months to visa in hand...

I seriously think they do it this way to weed out all of the less serious couples. When you think about it... the only money that is forked over in the beginning is $340. And then while they make you wait this agonizing five months you have to fork out just a bit more money for all the documents you need for the next step.

Then the dollars become more serious.... its like they say... okay you've made it past the five months... great... your serious... so now fork out another $300 for a medical and another $240 for a visa... then you finally get to be with your loved one and bammm - that will be another $1070 please!

Hang in there people... Next year sometime, hopefully we can all muster a little laugh over this whole process having a drink together in TEXAS!! :D:P
