@ Beth: ummm... About contacting your congressman. Can they email the release form to you? You could have them email it to you, you forward it to your hunny, print off, sign, scan signed copies to the computer and email it back? That's what I did in PDF format.

If you can't scan, you could always fax as well from work :)

The secretary responded to me the same day I emailed them back in. I was surprised, but everyone told me, they want your votes so they aim to please and you're giving their interns something to do :) so I took advantage of the help but they said they couldn't do anything for me until after I hit the 5 month mark. They said they would call me back and check on me this month so we shall see if they hold true to their word. If not, I'm calling them.

Well, my work is right here at my desk at home hahahaha (I teach English over the internet since I live in Honduras at the moment!) but yes, I could fax if need be...I will try scanning and emailing back for sure! I can fax and scan from the internet cafe down the street. It's crazy cuz some things about this country are in the Stone Age (mail and all ways to send and receive packages) but other things are fairly advanced (everyone and their brother having a cell phone and now computers becoming more widely owned...). Anyway, glad to hear that you were able to do it that way. I will be trying it tomorrow! I have been living in the same city as my hunny for over 2 years...makes some things super easy--like getting his signature--but things like mailing stuff back and forth to the US are a major pain!

The secretary responded to me the same day I emailed them back in. I was surprised, but everyone told me, they want your votes so they aim to please and you're giving their interns something to do :) so I took advantage of the help but they said they couldn't do anything for me until after I hit the 5 month mark. Hahahaha yes, I would call them, too! I should be okay calling tomorrow the 8th since the 9th will be 5 months......

Glad they have some motivation to help us, anyway! Will let you know how it goes...

I'm really sorry to hear that. I hear Indians are given a lot of extra scrutiny. I hope this time they realise you are actually in love!

Wow I admire you! I think 4 months is a long wait and 2 years? You must really love each other!!! Only for that you should get that visa like right now :)

What Sabi said. Good luck to you! You need it now!

-----

Well, today is the day we call the USCIS back to try and get a service request (Technically we have to wait until Wednesday next week but we're going to try it anyway, can't hurt) and chase the congressman.

No we haven't received anything from the Vermont Service Center email address, nor have we received anything from the ombudsman we emailed, although it's highly coincidental that the day after we email there's a flood of approvals... I wonder eh?

Good luck everyone. Lets at least hope Friday goes out with a bang!

If it doesn't, at least you can take comfort in the fact you can now shout and scream (not literally) at the USCIS. It's not much, but it'll feel like progress!

I'd say looking at others, from the time your congressman talks to USCIS you gotta give them 15 days to approve you! I hope it will be the case when it comes to you. But you are absolutely right, you need to show them that you're still there and still waiting :)

We are sending our request exactly on June 20. That's when they say they got our petition and that's when we hit 5 months mark according to USCIS status update :) That leaves us another 12 days of waiting...

i was just asking photomile about that this morning... as to what date to use for the 5 month mark. so when you log in it says 'on january 20th we received this...' even though notice date on noa1 was later right? for us it's the 13th vs 18th, but figured we'd get the ball rolling from 13th even though i'm sure they will ignore us! urggghhh. it's just so horrible and really a very degrading process, the way they basically force us to beg for it... leaves a very strange taste in my mouth.

Well the process takes 5 months... They got our petition on 18th but the USCIS says "we got your petition on January 20" so I go by that. My NOA1 is dated 24th but that's only the date they sent it by post so I don't think that indicates the date we should go by ;)

Probably. We sent the request Monday but we are hoping they will tell us if they have even contacted them by today. I hope everyone emails the congressman and the visa centers the second they are outside normal timeframes. Someone needs a kick up the butt!

Indeed... we definitely do! Our congressman has a special form on his website to fill in when you are dealing with government issues and trying to bring your spouse/fiance to the country! We are sending it straight after hitting the mark! :)He will also ring them to confirm he sent it. I'm not expecting a miracle, I just want to be approved by the end of the month...

i was just asking photomile about that this morning...

and what are you doing online?? I'm sure he is there with you by now!!! :) enjoy your time together!

haha, unfortunately i could only take one week off work (next week), so i had to leave him in bed this morning and come stare at the internet in the office instead of at home! but yes, so great to see him - he's even gonna bring me my packed lunch that i forgot this morning! love that he's around to do these silly little things 'normal' couples can do!
