Guys: question for you!

I already have a ssn and card from the time I worked as an exchange student( a while ago) We went to ssn office to get the name changed and the guy refused to do so and told me you guys got married so you're no longer fiancé but spouse and I won't take k1 but you need to get k3 visa.

I told him he was wrong but he didn't seem to accept that.

I don't care that he knows nothing about immigration my point is. I really can't get my name changed on ssn?! Before I get a green card?

I don't understand it.

You may want to post this in the AOS forum to get a quick response. Clearly the guy doesn't know much if he's still talking about the K-3!

Oh man. Well, that took a while.

I applied on January 17 and finally got a text message yesterday saying that our application had finally been approved on Monday, October 15. I need a drink.

We waited one day short of 9 months for a response. During that time, we never got an RFE, and never received any answer from anyone at USCIS as to why our application was delayed for so long. From what I gathered by speaking with my Congressman's staff, an immigration officer at the Vermont Service Center first got his/her hands on our application on October 3. I had filed a Service Request back on August 23.

Lesson to everyone else still waiting -- dig in for the long haul and use every means of communication possible. I contacted a Senator and a Congressman, called the phone line weekly, spoke with the tier 2 people repeatedly, filed a service request, emailed the VSC several times, emailed USCIS HQ several times, and was about to go in for an INFOPASS appointment on Thursday. I also filed a report with the USCIS Ombudsman. Who knows what it was that eventually caused them to pick up our file -- the horrible thing is that probably nothing I did made any difference, and I will almost certainly never know. Oh well, at least it's done.

I'm almost too exhausted to be excited about it. Almost ;-)

Now on to the NVC.....

Best of luck to everyone still waiting!

Congratulations!!  That's great news. Hopefully the rest of the process is quick for you!!

Yes there are definitely some issues at Vermont... that's a crazy wait. It is ridiculous and I hope it improves for others waiting. I saw a thread the other day where someone was tired of waiting and they only filed their NOA1 a month ago!! Reality will sink in sooner or later!
