It's nice to read this thread and see all of the great news and that everyone is moving quickly and painlessly through this process.

Javier's interview is Wednesday, so 4 days away. He's super nervous and keeps asking me what happens if they say no to giving him the visa. I tell him to relax, that they will say yes, but he so paranoid (by nature) and worried about it. I think what makes his nerves worse is that they denied him a visitor visa back in late 2011 but they base visitor visa issuance and K1 visa issuance on totally different things. I'm nervous as well, but I know everything will be ok and he will get the visa.

Today was my last day at work today as well, I cried a lot of tears saying goodbye to all my students and my friends, it's really hard but a necessary step. Only a few days until Javier gets his visa and we are flying to the USA!

El destino me ha unido a vos.

DITTO!!!!!!!!!! Mine has been telling me for 2 weeks now that he is going to quit his job and he has YET to do it! Haha. Tomorrow is really the last day, though, since we travel to the capital on Sunday! He is just as nervious as Javi...asking me what he will do w/o a job if they say no.....ahh. I don't know what else I can say to him! I have tried twisting things every which way to make him feel better and nothing....his job is pure hell anyway, so I just can't imagine being in his shoes and not running out of the place screaming in joy! HAHA. So yes, we are packing and reviewing answers....and will get to hang out with Kate & Javi for like 4 days! Whoohoo! Haha. ;) (What time are you guys headed down, by the way?!)

I had originally thought that since this whole process is taking so long that now we would wait and time things out so that we would move sometime in May. I was thinking about talking to the kids teachers to see if I can pull them out of school at the beginning of May without them losing their year. (They both get really good grades).

Now, I'm not so sure. I want this process over. I want to be with my hunny. He wants that too, as soon as possible. We have been living on line for so long, we just want to start our new life together and get settled into a house. I'm so torn. :(

Now that the process seems to be moving along quickly, I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel.

My son wants to go asap. (He's 10) If I told him we were moving tomorrow he would jump for joy. My daughter (she's 12) is having reservations about the whole thing, understandably. She knows it's coming. To me, for her, it's like taking a bandaid off. Do I do it slow... or do I just rip it off and get it overwith. She has seen her new school in Texas and loves it... but she is having a hard time with the thought of leaving her friends, her Dad, and her Country.

Divorce is so hard on the kids... this process makes it that more difficult. :(

Not sure ... not sure...

Any thoughts?

That's a really tough predicament, Kim. I'm not sure that I have any advice, but I think I would probably try to figure out what would make it easiest for both kids to adjust. I'm (almost!) 30 years old, and I'm now starting to have a hard time with the thought of leaving my friends, my parents, and my country, now that it's getting closer and closer LOL... so I can only imagine how overwhelming it must feel for a 12 year old, who is going through so many personal changes too.

If you take them out earlier than May, will they have to start a new school year in the middle of the year? (In a way, that might actually be good, because by the summer, they'll have friends to hang out with, etc - but it depends on how different the curriculum is, and what kids learn at different stages). Is there a way you can have the kids' schools in Texas send you a syllabus so that you can compare?

I know Katie... she is at the age where everything is changing for her... even in her little body.

I have talked to and met with the assistant superintendent of the school board down there. They always give any child coming from out of state a test prior to placing them to ensure they place them in the appropriate level for where they are at with each subject. They won't put them into a different grade, but they choose and appropriate level class for each subject. I have looked at the curriculum and it is pretty on par with ours... she told me they will be ahead of the game when it comes to the metric system etc...

I was thinking the same thing with the friends... and at least being able to make new friends before the summer.. I know she will adjust, she has a magnetic personality.. and I think the kids there will be very interested to get to know someone from Canada. :) (We have already met a few).

Just getting past the "I know it's coming and I don't like it" to making to down there to get used to it.
