Every consulate operates differently. For us, we cant do medical until we get the packet 4 in the snail mail. so they have to schedule it a month away so we can get the packet 4 in the mail,to do what needs to be done. if she wanna wait she can. i was just being proactive and it paid off. I saw were peeps from our consulate was waiting over 2 weeks just to be assigned a date.

Hey guys! I have a question for all my fellow London Embassy people....

For documents to take to your interview: The birth certificate and police certificate: do you have to have certified copies of these or can they just be photocopies if you want your originals back? I don't know if he will need the police certificate back for AOS.

Just a little confused on how many copies of these the London Embassy will need as well. Do they want 1 or 2 copies? I looked on the embassy webpage and it says the originals and a certified copy, but I thought I also read somewhere on there that if you wanted the originals back, then a photocopy was fine?

Thanks for clarifying ;)

Our K-1 Visa Journey

1/17/12: Mailed Original I129F packet via USPS with signature confirmation to Dallas Lockbox

1/19/12: Packet received at Dallas Lockbox

1/24/12: Received text message notification at 12:47am central time stating packet was received and our case number

1/24/12: Received E-Notification in email that I129F packet was being sent to VSC for initial review

1/27/12: Received NOA1 in US mail

7/12/12: Received text notification at 3:45pm central time stating our case had been updated *APPROVED!*

7/15/12?: Received NOA2 in US mail (not sure of this date)

7/20/12: NVC forwarded case to London Embassy

7/27/12: Fiance received letter from London Embassy stating they'd received our case and instructions for obtaining interview

7/30/12: Fiance mailed DS 156, DS 156K, DS 230, DS 157, DS 2001 to London Embassy

8/20/12: Medical

Photocopy provided with the originals is absolutely fine.

Original police certificate, plus ONE photocopy

Original long form birth certificate, plus ONE photocopy.

That's all I took

Thanks photomile! ;) I know he's going to need his birth cert. over here in the states, so I don't want them taking the only copy he has!

This is my list of docs for him to take to his interview. I've been checking and rechecking it incase I missed anything. If this looks okay, then I will start looking at getting ready for AOS:

1. Interview Letter w/ Appointment date

2. Visa Fee receipt

3. Police Cert. + one photocopy

4. Long version of Birth Cert. + one photocopy

5. Photographs: 3 US Sized (even tho the one for the medical can be either size) passport photos: 1 for medical 2 for visa (although, I have read you should obtain 8 because you will need some for AOS and walgreens over in the states charges... I think $30 for passport photos)

6. Affidavit of support + co-sponsor + tax transcripts, letter from employer + pay stubs

7. Extra copies of DS 156, DS 156K (NOT SIGNED), DS 230, DS 157 and DS 2001 (probs don't need DS 2001 but rather have it just in case ;) )

8. Evidence of ongoing relationship

9. Letters of intent to marry

10. his copy of our I129F packet just in case ;)

Am I missing anything? Also, in regards to the affidavit of support, my mom is our co-sponsor as I am a student and had gone part time when we began this process, but I am now back to full time. i was going to get him a new letter from my employer reflecting my full time status and my raise that I recently received, and I was going to send him my pay stubs from the last few checks. Should my mom send pay stubs as well? She let me get copies of her tax transcripts from the last 3 years and we both work at the same hospital, so our employer wrote her a letter as well and the letter states her salary per year, her length of employment and that she is in good standing at work. She has been there since 2000 or 2001. Do you guys think they will still want her pay stubs or should this letter and the tax return transcripts be ok? I think with my full time employment and my raise, I make enough to support him on my own, but wanted her as a cosponsor just in case.

Thanks again! ;)

If, anyone is interested, I blogged a bit during this process. Fiancée says it's good. I think it's just incoherent rambling *shrug*

Everything looks good. Yes it might be worth getting an updated letter and yes your mother will need to provide supporting evidence as well. I don't personally think there's anything you need beyond your list,

though. Might be worth checking in the UK sub forum since I'm not too up to speed on co-sponser filings!

FYI You can order duplicates of the birth certificate really easily online. There's a link in the NOA2 to interview thread, Third one down I think it was.

Just saw message on USCIS website. NOA2 approved

YES! Congratulations! Come on let's have a few more now!

Thanks Photomile! and CONGRATS Kennard!!!!!! My thoughts are still with those who are still waiting!!! Keep your chin up! It will come. It's probably the background checks holding them up. You all know how slow and ridiculous they can be sometimes!
