There is an end in sight, but I'm shocked at what VSC is doing here. I don't think even CSC has been this bad before, and it's almost like a total stop.

However, I think I know what's going on.

Remember I said there were a heck of a lot of RFE's in December and November?

Well, here's the VSC stakeholder newsletter for June, and rather unusually they have a dedicated section for RFE's

http://www.aila.org/content/default.aspx?docid=40032

So I went through November. And December again! There's a lot of RFE's STILL there!

This isn't VSC being slow! This is hundreds and hundreds of people that didn't file properly that have caused RFE's and literally stopped up the system. It's not slow because of some failed IT project, it's slow because everyone is so backed up processing RFE's!

Not everyone who gets an RFE is going to be because they didn't file properly, of course there's going to be adjudicators that are being hard on people, or documents that are lost, but we know full well from posts on this forum that there are some people that just don't read instructions and throw off an application form with nothing else! And we know there are a lot of those!

Okay, so I posted this in the regional, but I'll ask here too just out of curiosity. How many of y'all have or have thought about booking your plane ticket before interview (when you know your date) or before the visa is actually returned and in your hand? Expedia has a deal going with British Airways that could save us around $600, but thanks to the olympics everything else is $13348957634 for a one way or even a "return." There's always the risk that something could go wrong, his passport gets delayed in the mail, or for some terrible reason he gets denied.. Do we think that will happen? No, but we try to prepare for the worst.

I'm anxious to get him here. We're due to pick up the keys to our new place September 6th and we were looking at flying him out here Sep 5th (His interview is Aug 15th). I know he'll read this when he wakes in about 6 hours and probably wince at the fact I asked, but I can't stop thinking about the lower fare and whether or not to take the chance. Bah!

Yep!

I will be buying mine soon (waiting for my mom to decide if she can fly to our wedding or not) and my interview will be around sept 5-10..

If you have an easy case like us, and no high risk fraud country (lol did i use correct word order? :)) )IMO you can buy it now and fly 10-14 days after your actual interview and you'll be safe

That was an interesting read. I see a lot of people on here recommending people to just send what they forgot pre-RFE notice, so that is definitely not the way to go since it seems VSC is planning to start (rightfully IMO) returning anything without the RFE notice documentation vs. trying to play "find the needle."

RFEs or not I just want to be approved... if everyone waited in line just like the rest of us, I wouldn't mind at all... but knowing that people from January 21st onwards are already approved, some already have visas in hands drives me mad! Who are they at the USCIS to decide who is approved first without any chronological sense at all!So yeah so explanation is good enough knowing I will be apart from my fiance for the next 3-4 months!? and even here I have to put the question mark as I just can't be certain anymore!

really?

hmmm you know I started thinking, so many things we have managed to do like contacting the congressman, service request over 20 days ago, now senator... it all won't help and they will get to our petitions when they get to them! I would just like them to tell me when, that's all! whether it is going to be August, September, October , November or freaking December!!! Just tell me so I know, so I can plan my life around some stranger's decision!

Yup, my finacee tried making some contact yesterday cause we were fed up, and those were the answers we got. All we want is to get to the point where we have an interview date so we can have something to look forward to. cant take the speculation anymore. Lets just hope the hot heads adjudicators dont give us any RFEs, cause is seems like half jan petitions are RFEs

oh well i stopped getting replies from my congressman's office, the last one i got was that you can not expedite if the delay is due to background checks

going to contact the senator today, but seems like it wont practically change anything, but i'd still feel better, at least some action!

the last one i got was that you can not expedite if the delay is due to background checks

looks like we were bad boys and girls since it takes them over 6 months to do the background check... I am so sick of their excuses that I just don't want Terry to ring and chase anyone in the congressman office or USCIS anymore. Every time I hear the same or similar lame excuse, my hair is getting greyer!
