Well I hope something comes of it. Maybe I should go ahead and try that as well. Maybe they'll see if there's more than just 1 of us doing it they will do something. The squeaky wheel gets the grease right?

Btw Knope, I hope you have better luck with a service request. An hour later I had zilch. It was a complete waste of time. :(

I hope I have better luck too. It's been a good and bad last week for me, as I got my first apartment but my debit card number got stolen and all of my (thankfully, not very much) money is gone until the bank decides to return it to me. I could use some good luck today.

Has anyone had any luck contacting ombudsman?

I filed a complaint with the ombudsman on 07/02 via their online system. Nothing from them. Nothing from my congress representative or senators. I got one clever person at customer service the other day who would only say they are working on January and not specify the actual day. Made it harder to argue that they are keeping it at the 9th, when all they would say is the month. Seems some of them are adapting their techniques on "How to stall: Ways to stop a customer from getting customer service."

Knope, I'm sorry to hear about your debit card! I swear some of these theives are so smart that if they would use their brain to come up with a new business venture or go back to school the possibilities could be endless. Instead they choose to use their smarts to hurt other people :( anytime I find money or a wallet or anything important like that, I turn it in because I know how I would feel if I were the person who lost it. That actually happened to me the last time i went to the UK. I left my wallet in a public place and didn't realize til hours later, but someone turned it in and EVERYTHING was still in it! I couldn't believe it! I wish I'd known who turned it in so I could've thanked them

The annoying thing is that the card is still in my possession and has remained so. I'm fairly certain that it got stolen when I had to give out my number 6 different times to try to get my internet set up in my apartment, because the local office wouldn't help and I couldn't do it online. If it wasn't through this, it was through one of the websites I have shopped with before, though none of them are new. It's just the worst week for it to happen because I'm in the middle of moving and likely won't have access to my new card or my funds until Friday.

Oh man! I hope they get you sorted out quickly Knope! This happened to my mom. If you go to a restaurant you may want to insist on following the person running your card. My mom noticed someone charged $500 to her debit card at a SAMs Club online purchases but they had it delivered to the store and picked it up there. They never found out who did it but SAMs club refunded my mom the $500. We guessed it was someone who ran her card at a restaurant. They wrote down her card number and the 3 numbered security code thing on the back of the card. Maybe you should contact the places where your card was used?

Yeah, it's easy to do. I used to work in retail, and at the end of the night, the CC machine would print out all the full numbers. It wouldn't be so hard to steal someone's number these days with the way the systems are set up. I just can't believe my bank let my account go 60 in the negative. Generally, 3 cents over and it would bounce. I want to go and protest in Vermont too! It's going to kill me to say goodbye to my fiance tomorrow and have no idea when he's coming back.

I think you're right Sabi. I will just keep trying until someone does something for me. In the mean time I think I will try to file a complaint with ombudsman too. It can't hurt and as I said the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Vosnmars, call your congressman's office. They assign your case to a caseworker. It was about 2 weeks before I heard anything from mine but that was because my caseworker was on vacation.

Yeah, I was assigned a case worker a few weeks ago. They basically give me the response, "Don't call us, we will mail you a letter in the post so it takes as long as possible to let you know anything." I haven't heard anything so I did call just now and the worker said she mailed me a letter so I should get it today or tomorrow. She basically said they are still processing petitions. Nothing about my case specifically. She told me I'm actually not outside of processing times and nothing can really be done until I hit the 6 month mark. At that time, she will help. I'm getting tired of hearing the typically answers, I doubt I will do anything more until July 20th.

I saw another post you made, wasn't sure if you got an answer. Here is the link to the Ombudsman's office. There are a couple of ways to submit a complaint. I picked option 1 to file it online directly. USCIS Ombudsman Case Assistance

sorry Knope2012 to hear about your card :( what scares me in the USA is that you guys don't use pin numbers when making a purchase... it's so easy to just swipe your card on a "fake" credit card machine and there, they have all your details ...
