If it helps, I've been treated like a criminal every time I've gone through an airport in the UK, and that's with no red flags.

the last time I felt this way was when I went to New Zealand as a tourist and been locked in a room and questioned for an hour... a friend who was waiting for me at the airport was really worried and I couldn't even let him know what was happening... they were convinced I wanted to stay. Well I guess they are just doing their job...

Wow, really? I would not think New Zealand would be high on the list for tourist overstays, but maybe they are. I honestly think some immigration officers just get on a power trip. My bag is searched every time I leave England, and getting in can be difficult too. I haven't ever been taken back to a room and questioned, I usually just get searched and get a lot of questions.

Back in the 90s, my fiancé had really long hair, multiple earrings, etc...basically, he looked like someone from a grunge band. He was constantly pulled because I guess security thought he was trying to port drugs or something. (He was clean, of course.)

I think I was questioned because I was a single girl, traveling on my own to a male friend... The officer asked me questions like if we were planning on being together , marrying etc even though I told her he is my best friend... I had money, letters from my employer etc so after an hour they let me go... but I was locked in a room and the officer was making phone calls... to this day I have no idea who was he calling

We got a service request!!!! i am so proud of my baby!!!

Basically guys when you ring USCIS you have to insist on talking to level 2 CSR!!! Dont even bother explaining to the peraon who answers the phone, just keep saying you want to speak to the level 2. Terry had to repeat like 5 times till they put him through... Then Tier 2 said straight away that we are over the processing time and put through the request. Said we should hear 10-15 days which at this stage i am happy about ad long as someone will at least look at our case!

You lose nothing else but days that you could get your approval

Okay. I'll do a bit more work and then take a break and make the call. I do wish my fiance could do it, he's much better at convincing people in positions of authority.

And back. My Rep's office said they'll make the inquiry officially between now and Monday, at the very latest. I should hear back in a week or two but they told me I can call them anytime to check on the status. They were super-friendly in-person and completely understood the frustration I was going through.

Sabi, that's great to hear about Tier 2 and getting a service request in. Maybe the whole scripted Tier 1 response is to keep people who don't know better satiated for a longer period of time. Glad you got the SR.

Texas, that's harsh! Can't believe you got RFE after so long. Hopefully it isn't anything outrageous and can be dealt with quickly. At least you know a) they have your file, and b) they actually took some time to look at it.
