How do I find out about the touches? Do I have to call someone? Thanks.

You can tell just by looking at your case status on the USCIS site...if the "last updated" date changes but your status does not (still at initial review), it was touched but nothing resulted....literally it could have been a scan when they put it into a box or someone checked that box out to work on, etc. Each file has a code that they scan when they do anything like put it away for storage...so a touch could mean that they are working on it and someone has your file on their desk but it could be just reorganization of their office! haha

Found it, last updated 1/13/12, now I'm really anxious. I thought the California Service Center was quicker than the rest. My fiancee is going nuts as am I!!!

Newbie here. I-129F filed 1/10/12, received 1/11/12, NOA1 recived by post 1/15/12. What are "touches" and where does one find them? Thanks!

Hi and welcome! Touches are like katchoo said, they scan ur file in and out to track its location. If an adjucator takes your file to their desk they scan it. If they put it back up they scan it. Thats the theory from what everyone on VJ says and what the people who used to work at USCIS say on this forum. The touches don't really mean anything and some people go through the entire process without having a "touch".

They are found by creating an account on the USCIS website where you check your case status. When you create an acct, and add your case number to your acct, you will see a box that shows your case #, and it'll show that your email and SMS alerts are on or off and then it'll say last updated and have a date. That last updated date are what people call touches. Again they don't mean anything. A lot of us have touches on 2/9/12 and we think that we are all in the same box somewhere, but that's just our theory.

Hope that helps! :)

There is no scientific study or proof of this and just pure speculation, but from what I can tell, it looks like the touch dates are just when they scanned the bar code and put our files away. They seem to be close to when they were received (mine 01/20). So when they got my file from the Dallas lockbox, I got my first touch date (01/24). Then my second touch (02/09) was when my file got put into their storage room (way in the back to be forgotten for all eternity with all the other 02/09 touched files). After that it just sits and waits to be looked at. That's the pattern I've kind of seen looking at people's dates and that's what made sense to me. I could be wrong, just my opinion huh.gif

++++

trying to post separately and it keeps combining them. argh!

Hello, all. My name is Joe and I've been lurking around here for awhile. Like many of you, my fiancee and I are completely frustrated by this long wait. We got our NOA1 on 01/13/12 with the VSC. Everyday is long and agonizing just waiting for any glimmer of hope. The two cases right before ours were approved yesterday. Not sure if I should be excited (seeing as how completely random the process seems) or sad that we were so close. Wishing the best of luck to all of you.

Hey everyone,

I'm Lena from Germany. Nice to meet you all :)

My fiance and I have also filed in January. Today, it has been exactly 160 days since they recived our petition. It is getting really depressing :(

Originally we had planned that I move late July/early August, now I will be happy if we get the NOA2 by July.

Congratulations to everyone who already got their NOA2! Hopefully they finish the rest of January soon.

Hallo, Fufu. <3

Still monitoring the petitions directly around my own and no activity as of yet. It appears that adjudication remains concentrated in the week of 1/09 - 1/13. They just really were that far behind..crazy to think but hopefully most of us can't get NOA2s before the 4th of July....that wait continues..

In regards to 2/9 touches, I'm one of those and my congressman's secretary is looking into mine. I'll let u guys know what they say :)

Sounds great. I've got my offensive ready to go for next week..Can't believe Monday will be 160 days from the received date ah. I honestly think it's going to come through around the end of next week now for many of us..6/28 or 6/29 (about 160-162 days from NOA1) Went through a number of petitions today and it looks to be the trend.

I think it was about a year ago and long before any of us graced these forums, but one thing has now occurred. Vermont has reverted back into a disservice center. I think we can safely refer to it as VDS now...Vermont Disservice Center is handling our petitions. The VSC that existed a few months ago is now gone. I can no longer refer to it as a service center because it's a terrible misnomer. It would imply that it actually is providing service.

Could be a good sign? But wow. These RFEs. are people this careless when filing or do they arbitrarily select a number of petitions to conveniently misplace documents for. I would be furious to receive an RFE because they can't properly store my documents. VDS please don't screw me over. You already have in a way. But can we just call it even now? Let's hope most of us won't be seeing the dreaded RFE....
