Our K-1 Visa Journey

1/17/12: Mailed Original I129F packet via USPS with signature confirmation to Dallas Lockbox

1/19/12: Packet received at Dallas Lockbox

1/24/12: Received text message notification at 12:47am central time stating packet was received and our case number

1/24/12: Received E-Notification in email that I129F packet was being sent to VSC for initial review

1/27/12: Received NOA1 in US mail

7/12/12: Received text notification at 3:45pm central time stating our case had been updated *APPROVED!*

7/15/12?: Received NOA2 in US mail (not sure of this date)

7/20/12: NVC forwarded case to London Embassy

7/27/12: Fiance received letter from London Embassy stating they'd received our case and instructions for obtaining interview

7/30/12: Fiance mailed DS 156, DS 156K, DS 230, DS 157, DS 2001 to London Embassy

8/20/12: Medical

8/31/12: Called DOS and was told interview date: 10/3/12

9/3/12: Sent email to London Embassy requesting interview date be changed

9/5/12: Received response from London Embassy (via email) stating interview date had been changed to 9/10/12

9/7/12: Received new letter from London Embassy with new interview date & time

9/17/12: Received Visa in the mail

congrats sara girl! i'm so sad you're gonna be moving to the other side of the US, i've loved having you as my london buddy the last few weeks! and also, great info on the medical date being linked to visa expiry - i was just wondering this morning why mine expires 1 jan 2013 when it was issued 8 aug 2012. so, out of curiosity, you don't actually have 6 months to enter from issue date but from the medical date? or you can apply for a new visa to be issued, or what? just being nosy, i'm leaving in 2 weeks..

awww kate, I was telling Joseph the same, that it would have been so cool if were moving nearby rather than opposite site of the US, but we'll have fb (need to add you on skype or facetime too) to keep us company on some lonely afternoons! ;) who knows, maybe one day we'll both move to the same state?

As for the validity of the VISA he said, it used to be 6 months but now it depends on the medical date, which is valid for 6months. I think if you need to postpone your entry, if it is possible at all (??) you may have to re-do the medical I believe!

We now need to go for a cocktail session, dont forget! and then a wee goodbye drink before you take off!!! ;)

is this what the SEALED ENVELOPE looks like?!

are others different?!

Ours was sealed the short way... And it was strange, the bottom corner of the envelop was cut off, so you could see the corner of the documents (the cut was about 1.5 inches - 3 cm long). Only reason i could think for the cut corner was so the seal didn't bust open during travel???

Sabi and Vosnmars looks like we've arrived! Just got off the phone checking on my lunch break. Heck of a long wait on hold. But case has arrived. Number to be assigned shortly. I'll try calling again later tonight and try to get my number. I would imagine they'll have it by tomorrow.

Yes. Nothing at NVC yet. Tried yesterday and will try again at the end of today. Hope to get out of there this week if I'm lucky. It does seem hit or miss sometimes with the speed. Definitely more luck involved in each stage than I would have ever imagined.

Mine was 14 days, hang in there... then approved and sent on 15th day.

Congrats Sara, good-luck Photo... (and Lori)... Very nice Visa Kitty :luv: . Have not been keeping up with the thread so much, but good luck to all (if i missed you). Lidia and i are very busy (and happy!!). Not married yet, and no SS card either... but we did make application at town hall and now have cirtificate ready to be signed, which is now good for 60 days or we have to re-apply and pay another $15. Soon soon soon...

We are headed to the congressman's office this afternoon. It will be nice to meet the lady in person who has been trying to help us. We are on the fence about whether or not they actually help or are hindering us in this process. Eh but not much else to do except try it or wait it out... who knows... They've had our RFE evidence for 27 days now, and now we are officially at 200 days since initial receipt.. :(

And I believe we paid the same fee as everyone else.... ahhh just venting now!!! :angry::crying::(

Congratulations to all who are making headway... I wish for everyone to be in the USA soon! Congrats again L+T! Let us know when you are officially married. :)

Not a stupid question at all! I had a hard time finding an example too. I just put the embassy's address at the top and put my LND number as the subject. Then I made a list of the included documents using bullet points, and a few lines below that , I listed our wedding date and medical date and that I would like an interview date as soon as possible.
