Oh those are REALLY cute!! I love the grey & yellow music themed boutonniere! I want to do something similar for Tom and our groomsmen - we're doing a 1950's rock & roll inspired wedding in red and turquoise :)

That's a really nice idea :) We don't have an overall theme, but we're going to have playing card boutonnieres. I believe that http://www.offbeatbride.com has some great featured weddings with a rock & roll theme. They have some great weddings there :)

An RFE would definitely be painful this late in the waiting period..I'm thinking I'll hear something in the next 5 business days now if I'm lucky...It's been pretty consistent that 1 petition has received some type of action in my group each day. Maybe they'll decide to approve an extra 1 tonight

Really and trully my family would never understand haha

My Mexican family wants to party on this day. Im the oldest grandkid of my moms side of the family. All my family has been waiting for me to get married for years now. So for them a 50 people wedding is unheard of. My brother got married last year and had atleast 600 people!

Of course he planned this out 10 months in advance.

I have no time and definitely im not in a position to plan out anything until we have at least NOA2. But its not up to the family of course. So we are definitely making a small wedding.

I hear ya... I am the baby of a very large Italian family! Haha. We're basically looking at it as the *legal* wedding is just another piece of the paperwork (though my parents do plan on being there for that anyway) so that we can use it to move on through the AOS process... and the "wedding" that we're having is a full on wedding, with a ceremony + reception, and that's the day we'll celebrate as our anniversary, etc. We're still keeping it pretty small (by Italian wedding standards anyway... we're planning on having about 150 people, as opposed to my sister's 400) but thankfully, we've reached a happy medium :)

APW (A Practical Wedding) is great because there are tons of DIY ideas and advice available for people like us who are piecing things together as we can.

So far, we have our wedding bands and the officiant (a former Brit who married an American!). Everything else is officially TBA, but I will probably order my dress (from Etsy!) by the end of the month so there's plenty of time for the designer to make it. We have the venue identified as well and I've sent save the date emails to friends that say "November 2012?" on them.

I thought I had the photographer identified, but then I saw a photo booth offer on Living Social and that made me explore those options as well. The price difference between the two is pretty substantial, but the quality of the photos will be different as well. My honey isn't the posing type, so he liked the idea of checking out the booth option, too. Decisions, decisions...

I love the idea of the playing card boutonnieres Knope... where did you get those? That would be sooo fitting, since we met on pokerstars... :)

I love all this wedding talk! I love looking at dresses, seeing all the ideas, themes etc. I have nothing planned. All I've done is looked at dresses online and I was thinking about joining pintrest (as mentioned early by members) so I can start keeping track of some things. I have a feeling we might do the courthouse thing and then prepare for a full blown wedding on the same day the following year. I think that will give us plenty of time to do things exactly how we want.

I'll check out the practical website, definitely. We're doing a ton of DIY because the wedding costs add up quickly. Our wedding bands will be from Etsy too! I would see if you can look at the photo booth in person and see what kind of pictures they will take. Some of them take great pictures. We're the opposite, my fiance likes posing and I'm not nearly as into pictures. I wanted a great photographer, though, as the pictures are the only lasting remnant of the wedding. Our photographer is great and has a ton of common interests, so she's up for anything.

We are doing the same thing... The *legal* wedding when I get there and then planning a ceremony and reception (tentatively set for April 27th, 2013).

I love the idea of the playing card boutonnieres Knope... where did you get those? That would be sooo fitting, since we met on pokerstars... :)

I ordered my boutonnieres from here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/SurroundingsOnline I don't think they're listed, but she's doing a custom order for me.

That's a great idea! Pinterest is wonderful for wedding ideas too. I looked at dresses online first and then I went to a shop to try some on and ended up finding my perfect dress there .

And on the topic of weddings, is anyone else doing a reception that does not involve dancing? It's not mine and my fiance's thing, nor would it fit with the small number of people invited. I'm just trying to think of reception activities besides eating that my photographer could take pictures of.

Hmm...good question! My fiancé isn't a dancer, either. We're just planning to have the ceremony with the officiant and then everyone can eat, drink and get pictures taken. We're planning to do a lunchtime thing, so it will be wrapped up by 4PM.
