I am very surprised how different it gets once we are approved...

Each consulate has such different rules...

We have no packets, embassy just calls the beneficiary to schedule an appointment. We bring everything to the interview (DS documents, affidavit, medical result, police certificate, etc - no need to bring proof on ongoing relationship either!) and police certificate and medical can be scheduled anytime, even without approval, nvc case #...

London seems to be tough and complicated...

In Germany, they have changed the requirements in May. Now you have to send all forms and documents to the consulate after receiving pack 3. They won't give you an interview appointment until you have sent everything in and have done the medical. The good thing is that I now only have to bring my invitation and passport to the interview!

Whats the packet 3 and 4 anyway?

Since we don't have it I don't even know what that is... Like a list of documents you are supposed to send prior the interview?

Just out of curiosity, and for my own information, it seems that I only have the state-version of my birth certificate (which I sent when filing the application). I have to check with my mom though. I do however, happen to have a "Certification of Birth" card! It is a small and laminated card, issued by Georgia Department of Human Resources (!!!), just with my name, DOB, POB (actually only county of birth, not the city!) and nothing about my parents. When I was filing the I-129F, I thought that this card is the short version, and the state-issued birth certificate is the long one. Glad that I sent the form, not the card  Do any of you guys happen to have this card?

The card is no good, it must have parents name.

Hey, I just wanted to wish everyone a good weekend. Sorry I have been "out of the loop" for a bit but I went to Russia for a few days to be with Sveta. I am astonished and appalled at how few of you guys have been approved recently... It is terrible!!! Just an update, Sveta's interview will be August 29th in Moscow. So, please, say a little prayer for her approval!!! Wishing you all the best!!

Great news!! I had wanted visit Lidia sooner, but she wanted me to be there for interview... So we waited past her birthday, my birthday, and finally made it for interview and to see her. But i wonder are you going back for the interview. I heard the DOS in Russia started recommending the American petitioner come to interview. Is this true, have you heard this, are you going?

I don't know why its called "Pack". For us, it was just a letter saying that they have received the petition and to check online for the stuff to send back to them. You have to download a checklist with everything. Pack 4 was also just a letter stating that they are now ready for the last step and told me the date and time of my interview.

We just got invitation letter to schedule interview, and as well a web address on what to bring. (i filled this letter in as packet 3 on the VJ timeline). This will save time, but i imagine, if you can't follow the instructions you would have to again pay for second interview bringing all the required docs. I saw one young lady leaving fairly pissed-off... It must have been denial or some issues because when the DOS said we were approved... we were dancing out the door all the way to the fed-ex window.

London can be complicated, but it's one of the easier consulates supposedly. A lot of times they don't even ask for proof of an ongoing relationship; they just want to know that the beneficiary will be financially supported. But things have to be done in a certain order. You have to get your police certificate, then give that number at the medical, then send packet 3 with the papers and the date of the medical listed, and they will schedule an interview after they've received the medical results. I do find it annoying that you have to have the police cert. already before the medical, but I'll play by their rules. It is a low fraud consulate, but they do have an order in which they want things done. I'd much rather bring everything to the interview! London's also bad for scheduling interview dates two months out, but we're hoping it won't take that long.

Guys, some bad news... Thats the response i got from my congressman today:

"Your case was delay initially due to background checks. The Processing time report does not reflect those cases that are due to background check delays. They told me this morning that the Service Center is concentrating on a different type of petition, I 130’s so that will cause further delays. I am happy to discuss so please call..."

Yeah.....that January 12th petition? That was us:(

Guys...why!? Why would we be denied?? What reasons could you be? We have no criminal records, nothing. The journey is over for us now. I cannot wait any longer. We must be together. I am gonna get everything in order to move to him and marry him there. Does anybody have any advice? I'm in shock. Complete shock. 6.5 months and a denial. I don't understand!

If I live with him there, can I apply for a marriage visa for the U.S. in like a year? I am certain I am going there. That's the only way. I pray no one else gets denied. What an unbelievable, horrible nightmare this year has been.

omg..now..I think it's time to be terrified...what an arbitrary and frightening turn of events...I'm in shock and I'm so sorry to hear this. I've never heard of this happening before (without a very significant reason). I really wish I had just gotten married and done an IR1 or CR1 now. I really don't feel like they take the K1s seriously...Well, I'm going to mentally prepare myself for anything now....Even if it means living in Ukraine for a year. Or maybe I won't come back at all..ha. This is crazy.

How long did it take for you to hear back from your Congressman Dare Do? I haven't heard anything yet...Guess they will allow this backlog to continue to grow..

OMG! I'm so sorry to hear that!! Cant remember whether you guys received a RFE?

I wonder why you were denied, will they write it in the letter you gonna receive??

Yeah, that's what I would do too if I were you.. I'm no expert so I guess it all depends on the reason they give you denial..

So sad for you :(

How long did it take for you to hear back from your Congressman Dare Do? I haven't heard anything yet...

Hey there, well i got my first response the day after I emailed the office and was in communication with his personal assistant since that, sometimes she replies right away, sometimes takes longer, the last time I asked she didnt get back with me for 5 days, so i wrote a very long letter let me quote it: "...I just don't understand how this could be happening at USCIS that they are taking over 6 months with the petition that should receive some action within 5 months. I paid for their service and don't receive any, I'm a regular tax payer also, but still my government does not want to return a favor..." and thats just a part of it!

She got back with me within an hour with the earlier mentioned reply...

Having seen two denials I dont even know what to think of right now...
