I'd rather have the visa now and not have to wait at all  I kind of agree with both of you because I'm on the fence. I think its hard for me to look at the big picture sometimes, but I do try. Its all kind of psychological for me to say I'm moving onto stage 2 or 3 and not still stuck at stage 1, because in this process I don't know ahead of time how long or short those later stages could take. hhm.. idk

Yes. There is really no time table now as the processing dates seem arbitrary and the goal processing time remains unchanged..so it's basically a black hole when it comes to consistent information. I would say the lack of consistency is the absolute worst aspect of the process. It just makes everything much harder to endure when there seems to be such randomness ranging from approvals to who succeeds with service requests or congressional inquiries.

If they go the way mine went, they should go much faster. In a little over a week, our petition was already at the embassy. Hopefully packet 3 is any day now. London's a slow consulate, so if you get your petition approved any day now, you may have your visa in hand before us :) I agree, I would rather not have to wait at all. A 3 month process from submitting to the interview sounds nice.

Sabi, are you doing a courthouse wedding and then a bigger wedding later? I almost wish I had gone this way. Financially, this was not a year in which to have a wedding :)

yes , Terry wanted the whole thing but I had a feeling it wouldn't be realistic not knowing when we would be approved... I am too much of a planner and I would be totally freaking out right now if we had to worry about the wedding too... Once I get there, we are doing a courthouse one ( well it won't be really in the courthouse but yeah small civil one with just us, 2 witnesses and the justice of peace who is there ready anytime). Then next year we will have the reception, one in the USA and one in Taiwan (at least that's what we've been promised)...

Yeah I admire those of you guys who have real wedding plans this year! :)

Yes they did seem to move your file through NVC quickly, but I hope London isn't that slow for you guys and you get your interview soon :D

My wedding is going to be pretty small, thankfully. I still need to finalize a guest list, but I don't want to send out invites until we get our interview date, at least. The only vendors I really have are the venue, the photographer (I got my dream one thankfully!), the makeup artist/hair person, and the caterer. It'll be under 50 people though, and mainly family, which is why I put it just before Thanksgiving. We might do something with my fiance's parents when we fly back to see them next year.

No, I'd rather it be with an adjudicator than calling the USCIS every day and them not knowing where the file is or if it's going to the NVC :) I don't know, I'd just rather them take forever to adjudicate it and then send it promptly like they did with mine. I would hate to wait a month and call both places and neither know where my petition is, that would terrify me!

YES! I totally agree. That happened to us. Almost a full month of calling both and knowing nothing...once it got to NVC, it was sent out super fast but getting there...oh man. Seriously freaked me out. Like, okay, if we are approved and then the file gets lost, what do we have to do?! Could they readjudicate and deny it?! Hahaha...

If they lost it at that stage, you have your NOA2 as a proof you were approved so as this would be their error you would be entitled to have your case expedited due to an error... I would prefer to have that in hand than 6+ months processing time and no rights at all...

I am sure that if you didn't have your NOA2 by now, we would be having a different conversation now ;)

Yes, yes, I know! I just worried during that whole time...since the whole process is so arbitrary and silly, they can seemingly do whatever they want...so I wouldn't put it past them to do something crazy and readjudicate, that's all.

I have no idea...but on their Facebook page, there are many other people saying the same thing...somebody responds to FB really quickly but it appears to be someone who doesn't actually work there but can answer the questions. They just tell us to email and call again. One lady has been waiting for her husband's interview date since May and she is pregnant and due in August...so she will be giving birth alone b/c the August schedule came out last week. On here, some VJ members in Honduras have waited 3 and 4 months just to get the date which is obviously then another wait...I should have filed a year ago. FML. I am going to talk to a lawyer tomorrow...supposedly they have an "in"... :help: Yes, I have NOA2 and it's great--no more worries about that but now what?! Nothing. Not even a damn response. I actually live here and will move back with my man...so I may be taking a road trip to the capital with some brownies, I think!!!
