I think mine took less than 3 weeks. Maybe about 10 days, but it really depends. 3 weeks seems reasonable.

hmm, I haven't seen anything in the mail, and its been almost a month...who should I contact??

To quotes a movie, “So how does it happen, great love? Nobody knows... but what I can tell you is that it happens in the blink of an eye. One Moment you're enjoying your life, and the next you're wondering how you ever lived without them.” I felt I found something with Kieu that is rare in life... true love.

So I came to the local USCIS office this morning to ask them about the mistake on my GC. He said there is no North Vietnam now and don't know why they made such a mistake. He gave me the I-90 form and told me to send the original GC back and there will be no charge since it is their mistake. After they send me the receipt, I can bring it to them and they will stamp I-551 on my passport and use it to go to Vn. However I don't wanna risk because I don't know what will happen when I send it back.

I ask him If I can use it to go to Vietnam, but he said he doesn't know because he is not the one at the US airport. He said it is my choice to use or not to use it when I go to Vn. He doesnt say that it is good to use.

What should I do now??

So I made an info pass appointment for 4/13/12 in San Francisco to inquire about the same thing and will share my experience.

From a rationale perspective, it should be OK. As others have stated, expiration date, DOB, and name should be the most important.

Thuy - I'd be curious to find out what your experience is when you travel so please share.

Thanks!

And giving freebie advises on VJ is NOT?

I don't give free advice, and your invoice this month has not been paid yet. Please remit at once or I'll have to send it to collections.

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!

And giving freebie advises on VJ is NOT?

completely different circumstances. i don't have to take an afternoon off, drive somewhere, spend money to park, get searched, and wait for my appointment to give said freebie advices. plus by having VJ i've saved probably over 1k by not having to hire people that probably won't be as thorough, so this forum is the opposite of trivial.

K-1, CRBA, AOS, GC

I never say that VJ advices are helpless or anything. This forum is not only giving information that we don't know but also giving us the couragement to deal with US problems. As many other people, we are new to America and don't know much about its law. We join this forum for help and to asure that many people got them same problem so we wont feel alone dealing with USCIS. Different people give different advices therefore we also want to know the perspective from US side just to make sure that nothing will go wrong in the future.

I just used my GC says "north VN" to enter to the US last week after 2 months vacation in VN and everything was fine. So u guys can use it to travel with no worry :)

Now I'm wondering should I replace a new card now or just wait until once renew 10-year green card. And what do I need if I want to replace a new GC without paying anymore money? I already know that we need an I-90 form . what else do I need ? Please help. Thanks
