‘Israel to Give Obama 12 Hours Notice on Attacking Iran’

I'd say Iran has egg on it's face until it responds to the carrier going through the straits. They have parlimentary elections March 2cnd. The guys in power don't want to go into an election with the egg on their face.

The US is rachetting up the pressure. The problem for Iran is responding without getting their butts kicked. I'd guess the Americans in Israel are tasked with taking out the atomic facilities once something does happen.

Iran did respond. This is mentioned in the Debkafile article; here also:

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Saturday it considered the deployment of U.S. warships to the Gulf as part of routine activity, apparently backing away from previous warnings to Washington not to enter the area.

“U.S. warships and military forces have been in the Arabian Gulf and the Middle East region for many years and their decision in relation to the dispatch of a new warship is not a new issue and it should be interpreted as part of their permanent presence,” IRGC Deputy Commander Hossein Salami told the official IRNA news agency.

It would seem that an agreement with the Obama administration has been reached, and the agreement does not include an Israeli attack on Iran - at least not at this time.

Read the Debkafile analysis that was posted by the Sun Symbol - I believe it is accurate. (By the way, Debkafile generally reflects the view of the Israeli military-intelligence community, which does not always align with the policies of the Israeli government. Key members of that community have been very critical of Netanyahu/Lieberman calls for attacks on Iran.)

Yes I know that there are military people in Israel not wanting a war. That makes no difference if the powers that be want a war. Iran will not compromise on this. They want a nuke. The only way to stop them is to take them out. No just a air strike will solve this. It sounds simple but it isn't. The only question is will we go to war with Iran if they keep developing a nuke.. I think so. I don't care if they do get a nuke personally. I do not want us bogged down in the middle east forever.

If we take Iran out we would need to keep a huge presence in the area to keep Russia and China at bay. Is it worth the huge costs to us Americans to keep that area in this permanent state of turmoil? We need to just bring our troops home now. Bring the carrier groups back after we have left the area. Then the participants can do what they want and we can watch from the sidelines.

People can read into this, and see into that but if anything, history has shown time and again that Israel has done and will do whatever it takes to protect itself. Iran is going to pay the ferry man soon enough.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Only because the U.S. allows it. What would they do if the U.S. pulls out of the ME?

The State of Israel is not the same thing as "The Jews." Most Jewish people don't live there; many of them don't want to and have no intention of it. And many (probably most) are very opposed to Israel launching an attack on Iran.

As I said, Israel's own military-intelligence community is trying to put the brakes on its government:

Former Mossad chief: Israeli attack on Iran must be stopped to avert catastrophe

Former Mossad chief Meir Dagan warned Thursday against an Israeli attack on Iran, saying such a move would likely lead to a regional war involving Hezbollah, Hamas, and Syria.

"I'm concerned about possible mistakes and I prefer to speak out before there is a catastrophe," Dagan said in an interview on the Israeli television program “Uvda."

"I think that engaging, with open eyes, in a regional war is warranted only when we are under attack or when the sword is already cutting against our live flesh. It is not an alternative that should be chosen lightly."

Dagan stressed that though he cannot predict how many casualties an attack on Iran would yield, he said, "I have to assume that the level of destruction, paralysis of every-day life, and Israeli death toll would be high."

He said that he has no interest in hiding his fervent opposition to an Israeli attack on Iran from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak.

The Israeli's do not have an army large enough to even march to Iran let alone fight when they get there. It is easier to defend the borders or nearby then to launch an invasion. Israel got its azz handed to them in Lebanon. I just read a book on the withdraw that the Israel army had to do to pull out of Lebanon. Israel will need to go over Iraq to get to Iran or a U.S. Carrier group or two.

If Iran is to be taken care of it will be the U.S. Israel can't do jack.

Take a look at the destruction Israel created in Lebanon vs what Hezbollah created in Israel. Israel bombed them senseless. Then take a look at how far Israel penetrated into Lebanon vs how far Hezbollah penetrated into Israel. Israel won't march to Tehran, but they will make sure Tehran can't nuke Israel.

If Israel was to go up against Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, and Syria right now I would take every last nickel I have out of the bank and put it down on Israel ftw. Those Jews just don't lose. They may take a beating now and then but in the end they do way more destruction on their enemies. Well trained army, and an air force that's second to none.

They are surrounded by nut cases on three sides yet their still there. So far they have done better than the Crusaders statistical wise. Once Israel is back to it's original borders of ancient Israel and Judea, and it's capital is moved to it's rightful place (Jerusalem) then Israel should be good to go for a Milenia or longer.

Israel knows what it takes to deal with it's enemies and it does what it takes.

He was being derogatory. Most Jewish people live in America. It was a long time ago a first choice destination. Even after they started to arrive in Israel after the war they did all could be done to come to America.

Good luck to the community to stop their leaders. The only ones to stop them is the U.S.

Well, Obama isn't playing ball with Netanyahu, and he is sending very clear signals that Israel ought not start something on its own. So it seems Bibi will have to wait until after the U.S. elections (and do his best to help get someone like Gingrich into the White House.)

Israel went all in on what they thought was a easy victory. Hezbollah was smart and pulled away and waited for Israel to extend their lines then fell on them from all sides.Nibbling at them until Israel was forced to pull out. The Israelis were tired of the deaths from their small army. Afterwards the Christian Philangists massacred many Palestinians and sparked a huge civil war. Unless Israel get some sense they will be in perpetual war.

Any candidate but one will start the war. Santorum said two weeks ago he would. I am hoping Obama will wear his Nobel peace prize when he announces the start of hostilities. He is against Netanyhu only until he secures the election.

Obama won't get the U.S. into a war with Iran before the election, as it would most likely tank his chances at a second term. And despite the public sentiments of eternal devotion recited by almost all the Republicans (always good for large PAC donations like the $10 million Gingrich picked up from the Sheldon Adelson family) none of the other guys can start one unless they get elected.

That's what I meant by Bibi having to wait.

Stating the obvious. Two carrier groups gives time only.

Yes... I quoted you, but I was answering some here who thought it was time for the fireworks already.

Iran did respond. This is mentioned in the Debkafile article; here also:

Quote

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Saturday it considered the deployment of U.S. warships to the Gulf as part of routine activity, apparently backing away from previous warnings to Washington not to enter the area.

“U.S. warships and military forces have been in the Arabian Gulf and the Middle East region for many years and their decision in relation to the dispatch of a new warship is not a new issue and it should be interpreted as part of their permanent presence,” IRGC Deputy Commander Hossein Salami told the official IRNA news agency.

That response leaves the egg on the face. Salami is the same guy that warned the US not to come back.

Obama is not going to give up the Jewish vote:

Obama pulls out all stops to show himself as pro-Israel in a campaign video. Barak, Peres and even Netanyahu praise him.

Why should Israel give us any warning they'd be attacking Iran?
