Israel doesn't care if the US negotiates with those nut job Ayatollahs in Iran. Israel will take care of it's own and chances are that means taking out a few Iranian nuclear facilities. You don't negotiate with nut job fanatics...you just fix em good from about 2,000ft.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Look. Iran is not going to compromise with the U.S. They want a nuke and are going to get it. The only way to stop Iran is to go to war and destroy them. To go to war with Iran is a huge undertaking. And on top of that we will rebuild them and that is Trillions of bucks right there. That is a lot of money.

Israel better be careful here. This nutjob in Israel is about to need his nukes for real. blink.gif

The Lincoln is definitely there to send a message - to Israel.

Put up or shut up is the name of the game. Iran ran it's gums about blowing Israel off the face of the map, now it's time to pay the piper. The US isn't going to save Iran. Iran is going to have to save Iran. Same with Israel's neighbors. You attack Israel then be prepared to pay the price. Don't take a knife to a gun fight.

I don't think so. We have sent quite a few troops to Kuwait recently. I know for sure we have sent a huge amount of military hardware out of our ports to the middle east about 6 months ago. I think the U.S. is itching for a fight with Iran. That threat about the Hormuz was just the tonic the U.S. was looking for.

Don't worry about Israel. The last time an Arab air force (Syria) went up against the Israelie's it was a wipe out. Israel kicked #######.

I don't care about Israel. I want our troops brought back home from worldwide deployments. It is none of our business there. Israel wants perpetual war then let them have it.

Turkey to follow only United Nations sanctions against Iran

Diplomatic sources have announced that Ankara will not be affected by the new set of sanctions on Iran, announced by the EU to cut all imports of Iranian crude oil to the EU bloc, on the grounds that Turkey will follow only UN-led sanctions.

“Turkey in principle feels bound only by UN Security Council sanctions against third countries,” diplomatic sources told Today’s Zaman on Monday, shortly after the EU governments agreed that they would ban all new contracts to purchase oil from Tehran.

On Monday the EU decided that it would block all imports of Iranian crude, but allowed for members with existing contracts to look for alternative sources until July 1. Turkey by principle remains outside non-UN sanctions against Iran, not convinced by the argument from the West that Iran is hostile against the West, and it is enriching uranium for the production of nuclear warheads in preparation for an attack. Turkey does not have a nuclear weapons program but seeks to build two nuclear power plants on its soil to meet its increasing need for energy, while it stands against nuclear proliferation for all Middle Eastern countries, not only Iran.

Turkey’s largest oil refinery in Tüpraş relies on Iranian crude oil, and has been refreshing agreements with Iran for decades.

Hours after the announcement of the EU’s new policy for Tehran, an Iranian lawmaker repeated a threat that Iran would block the Strait of Hormuz, the entry point to the Gulf. “If any disruption happens regarding the sale of Iranian oil, the Strait of Hormuz will definitely be closed,” Mohammad Kossari, deputy head of the parliamentary Foreign Affairs and National Security Committee, was quoted by Reuters as telling the semi-official Fars news agency.

It's so much more effective (in both American taxpayer money and in American lives) to use diplomacy and business and political incentives rather than try to brute-force the world.

Not to mention that the last thing Obama wants is for the U.S. to get sucked into yet another war in the Middle East - and his reason has nothing to do with Iran or Israel.

attacking IRAN will be a big mistake

Why? and for Who?

Aside from any moral questions...

Israel has taken preemptive strikes on middle eastern countries including nuclear facilities and for them the outcome has been positive.

Lets say they do a preemptive strike.. Iran can't hit them back directly at this point - they can go after US ships in the gulf but the British, French, and US ships are in combined groups now so they can't attack the US without attacking European ships as well.. If it did get ugly I don't think the Israeli government is going to lose sleep if they happen to cause western countries and Iran to go to all out war.. They would probably look at it as an added bonus.

Maybe Iran they can make good their threat to shut down 20% of the oil coming through and spike prices.. People will panic and markets will fluctuate.. nothing long term.. You almost wish they could do it long term and spike the oil prices - Conservation would kick in again, we would start talking about alternative energy sources again, and wouldn't Canadians make mint... Pipeline? no problem! Fracking? No problem!

First off the only thing nut jobs understand is pure brute force. Second off there's no ground troop involvement needed. It's all done from the air. It's time for Iran to pay the piper. It's time has come and Israel is gonna bust a cap in it's a$$.

Iran will not compromise. They want a nuke. The only way to stop them is war. I expected Obama to wait till after the elections but maybe he sees this as his popularity surge to win the elections. He doesn't need too as the top two GOP are for sure losers to him. Everyone seems to think that it is just Iran here on the stage. There is also Russia and China. China can be bought but Russia will be too expensive to buy off. Iran has weapons to hit Israel. They have a pretty good sized military also and they are motivated.

Turkey is still part of NATO right?whistling.gif

To complete a war an invasion is needed.

Just take out a few nuke facilities and some SAM missile sites and it's a job well done. Iran has it's own internal problems atm.

The Europeans have been taking the lead on the diplomatic front with Iran since the early 2000s on this question... Panic is setting in.. I don't blame Iran for wanting atomic weapons, it certainly would make them feel safe I am sure.. I also can't blame Israel and other countries for thinking that if Iran had Atomic weapons they would be finding a way to use them...

The time is approaching when diplomacy is no longer an option and a question will be asked.. What is worse, Iran with a atomic weapons or a war with Iran?

I'm guessing our opinions do not match on the answer..

Read the Debkafile analysis that was posted by the Sun Symbol - I believe it is accurate. (By the way, Debkafile generally reflects the view of the Israeli military-intelligence community, which does not always align with the policies of the Israeli government. Key members of that community have been very critical of Netanyahu/Lieberman calls for attacks on Iran.)

I'd say Iran has egg on it's face until it responds to the carrier going through the straits. They have parlimentary elections March 2cnd. The guys in power don't want to go into an election with the egg on their face.

The US is rachetting up the pressure. The problem for Iran is responding without getting their butts kicked. I'd guess the Americans in Israel are tasked with taking out the atomic facilities once something does happen.
