My step son obtained his VISA today for permanent resident and we are traveling from Honduras to LA through Houston. I am told that we will have to clear immigration in Houston. Has anyone done this and know how long it takes? At the moment, our connection time is 1 hr and 10 min. I am not sure if I should change my flight to a later time.

I haven't gone through customs in Houston but if you can get a later connecting flight I would. You'll have to deplane, collect your bags, clear customs, probably switch terminals, and checked in and boarded for your domestic flight 30 minutes early, which leaves you 40 minutes to do all of that - assuming your flight is on time. We had a similar connection time returning from Bolivia last year (had to clear customs in Orlando before making a domestic connection to DC) and we ended up missing our connection because of the fact that we needed to be checked in (including rechecking our bags) and boarded 30 minutes early.

08.25.2010 - NOA hard copies received (x4), case status available online: 765, 131, 130.
10.15.2010 - RFE received: need 2 additional photos for AP.
10.18.2010 - RFE response sent certified mail
10.21.2010 - Service request placed for biometrics
10.25.2010 - RFE received per USCIS
10.26.2010 - Text/email received - AP approved!
10.28.2010 - Biometrics appointment received, dated 10/22 - set for 11/19 @ 3:00 PM
11.01.2010 - Successful biometrics walk-in @ 9:45 AM; EAD card sent for production text/email @ 2:47 PM! I-485 case status now available online.
11.04.2010 - Text/Email (2nd) - EAD card sent for production
11.08.2010 - Text/Email (3rd) - EAD approved
11.10.2010 - EAD received
12.11.2010 - Interview letter received - 01.13.11

I have flown through Houston from Honduras, that is cutting it close just going through customs as a USC. The flights from Honduras usually arrive at the same time as a few other international flights. And in Houston you have to get on the train to go to the domestic departures. (If the train is working! if not they will let you figure out the hard way that it isn't) :bonk:

that is cutting it close.. i would get at least 2 hr window.. at least 1 hr for customs and 1 hr extra..
