Just income is not the correct answer, you will be disappointed again if you just go with one criteria.

Each CO puts it togeather, like Incomce, property, relatives other investment, business or job or school etc. before coming to conclusion.

Most ppl on here say CO did not go thru the documents, which is not true either before they come to window for the interview, they have gone thru the file and they ask specific questions and are looking for the answers to that.

Arguing with CO would never result in anything but he simply walking away or calling security to escort you out. Most CO have made up 80% of the decision before they come to window and rest is done during the interview.

unlike with the k1 or other types of visas, the COs for tourists do not collect the documents prior to the interview. they have the standard DS-whatever form, but it does not state the income and other ties they might have in their home country. What I mean is, they do not check back up documents.

DS-160 does not have enough information on it?

I know for India one is required to submit all the documents (including supporting documents) 1 week ahead of the interview, unless they use a different approch in your country then I dont know.

The US Embassy in Manila do not accept documents (basic and supporting) prior to the day of the interview for the tourist visa application. Supporting documents (i.e. bank statements, property ownership, etc.) are usually not even looked at during the interview process. CO asks questions based on what was written on the application form (DS 160) and if they ask for supporting documents, that's the only time you give it to them.

We've been exploring my Mother -in-law coming prior to Jho being able to go back to the Philippines (other than the furlow) especially when we have the first baby. It looks as if the most difficult part is proving that her mother has enough steady income that originates in the Philippines (not from us). I haven't seen a set amount but it appears that it needs to be substantial. Without prying I'd be interested in how much income you showed that originated there? Just a ball park figure would be nice if you could send that to my inbox I'd appreciate it.

While waiting for my interview for my tourist visa application, I was seated close to one of the windows and heard how applicants were being interviewed. There is one old lady who was granted the visa but she did not have steady income also. She said her only source of income is by selling fried sweet plantain in front of her house, but her daughter, who is a nurse in the US, is sending her money also. She could not even speak english and had to ask for an interpreter for her interview. So I guess income alone (of the applicant) cannot be a basis for granting a tourist visa, although it could be a factor also.

I haven't agreed or disagreed. I asked a question. I'm wondering if your english comprehension is a factor here? If so I apologize. By some of your sentence structure it appears your fluent.

To me this sounds like you are telling me I don't know what I am talking and I should shutup.....lol unless you meant to say something else... :)

I hope my English is fluent or unfortunately would have to let my school(US Univ) know they need to improve their English program.....lol.

No in that case I did mean you should not say anything. I asked the CO a question.

I have no idea what your point is.

I had just chimed in coz I was trying to be nice and let you know that just bank balance by itself is not the only criteria.

As I have seen cases (actually I know ppl who have done that) in past where ppl have inflated their bank accounts just for the interview, which obviously did not fly thru during interview so all I was trying to help you by saying look into other factors as well and not just bank balance.

If you were aware of the other criteria then its cool not an issue at all... :) maybe you had something else in mind but your post seemed you were just going by the balance in bank during interview.
