Hello Everyone!

First of all I'd like to say that this is such a great forum, it's helped answer so many questions that have arised during my process. Here's my story/timeline

I went to Pakistan last year (My parents hometown) and fell in love with a girl there. 10 months later (December 2011) I went back to get married. I am a US born citizen that's only been out of the country twice and I have absolutely NO clue what I have to do! :) I have been researching online about different things I can do and here's what I got. What I need from everyone here is just some simple guidance! Thanks in advance :)

I have 325A forms one for me and one for my wife

130 form that is almost filled out

English translated copies of the marriage certificate

Her birth certificate

Our marriage certificate

Hope I'm off to a good start, I've heard average wait times are 6-8 months, can someone back this up? Thanks again

well forget the K-3, it is an obsolete visa. Go for the Cr-1

See the guide above

6-8 months is liberal, espeically from Pakistan where additional administrative process is common (although not sure for women). We did ours in 10 months. I'd say 8-12 months is about average

Good luck

Don't waste time and effort with K3. Just apply for IR1/CR1.

Correct. I just want to add at this point that the OP will need the original marriage certificate to go with the certified translation. After careful study of the CR1 visa guide and the I-130 instructions, we'll be here to answer remaining questions.

With no additional administrative process, our total time from filing I-130 to him arriving in the US was 7 months and 10 days. Hope this helps!

Also, like everyone else said, go the CR1 route, forget the K3... it was useful in the past, but is now obsolete. I'll be here if you need any other help!!
