Biometrics Walk in?

 Share

Hi everyone,

Well our Biometrics letter arrived today and of course they scheduled my appointment for February 15th (I fly to the UK on the 14th) even though I included a note stating I would be away.

So my question is, I have seen some references to people doing walk ins and wanted to know how that works and if I could do that so I don't have to reschedule my appointment.

Thanks in advance,

Luke

Hi luke! I did a "walk in". Some service centers wont allow you to walk in, but most do. I went to the one here in Raleigh Durham and never had an issue. I got my letter on a Friday sometime in June and my appointment set for end of july, but on that following Tuesday i just went to the service center, showed them the letter, and they let me in. All was good!

We did walk-in for AOS and ROC with no problems. The guard on duty during the AOS told us that we "should stick to the appointment." However, she let us go. For ROC the guard didn't even check, just let us do it.

We've done 2 walk-ins around 2:00 in the afternoon. The place was almost deserted, so I think it helped to not try it in the mornings when it's pretty crowded.

This is EXACTLY the strategy to take. Go early in the afternoon. Not too late and not early in the morning. If the guard is cool, he'll let you in. Make sure you have fresh breath, too!

Also..one trick i used when i walked in for my AOS was to tell the guard that i had called the day before and was told that i was allowed to come in today for biometrics!! He never questioned me and just let me in. This time round for ROC i didnt say anything. They didnt ask and i didnt tell :-) ps... just received my 10yr GC at the beginning of this month!

Thanks for the advice guys. Biometrics walk in successful today. Now for the waiting. Do I need to let USCIS know that I did a walk in so they don't think we abandoned our case? Or will it update in their systems that I have completed my biometrics.

I believe it will be automatically updated as biometrics complete.
