I filed my AOS paperwork the beginning of May 2011. My case was transferred the end of June 2011 to CSC. I haven't heard anything since June 29th. I called to find out if there was anything they could tell me, anything they needed, what in the world is going on with it on January 5th. This was after it had been 6 months since it was transferred. When I called I was told that it was actually at the Washington DC office and that they're working on December 2010 files so I'm still within their service timeline. I looked at the service status for all the USCIS offices and they don't seem to have been updated since September 2011. I'm thinking I should put in a service request however I'm wondering what that actually means? What happens when you put in a service request? Will I have to go to the local office? What will I need if I do have to go? Any advice?

You call USCIS and ask them to put a service request in. But since they already told you that you are within processing times - they wont do it for you.

At this point if you want something done you will need to contact your congress person.
