I received an email from USCIS that they received my packet and that they have sent it to California Service. I thought if you send your packet to Chicago Lockbox, then Chicago Lockbox Office handles your case. Why would they transfer it California? Is it normal ? Secondly what should I write in timeline or Processing time for this notice ?

This is how the notice from USCIS looks like,

" Dear Applicant/Petitioner:

Your USCIS application/petition has been received and routed to the California Service Center for processing. Within 7-10 days by standard mail you will receive your official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) with your Receipt Number WAC XXXXXX. "

Thank you everyone over here in advance for your response.

God bless you all !

NiSham

We also sent to Chicago lock box.. from there they transfer the cases to different places, Ours also went to California... so no biggie.. from there they will process your case and give you an approval, RFE or denial. When you get your NOA1 confirmation then you sit back and wait. It takes approx 5 months.. sometimes more sometimes less. Gooc luck!

You do need to fill in the timeline whether it's k1, cr1 etc...

The lockbox is only an intake facility. They make sure the fee is correct and a quick review of the file. Actual adjudication of the file takes place at one of the two service centers that adjudicate I-130 petitions (CA or VT).
