I am in the processing of becoming a US naturalized citizen.

My mother's father completed a I-130 petition for my mother, father and my 2 siblings.

If I complete a I-130 petition, will the petition that my grandfather completed get canceled?

Please let me know.

Thanks

Hi, no,

a person can have more than one petition at the same time filed on their behalf.

A beneficiary can have more than one current I-130. You filing for your mother does not affect the petition filed by your grandfather.

However, there is a very import piece of information you should know.

The petition your grandfather filed is for your mother (his daughter). Your father and unamrried siblings under CSPA age of 21 at the time the PD becomes current will be her derivative beneficiaries. If the beneficiary gets a visa, then the eligible derivative beneficiaries will get visas.

The story is different when you file for your family. You will need to file separately for your parents and siblings; that's 4 separate I-130s. When you petition your parents, these would be Immediate Relative cases. Derivative beneficiaries are not allowed in Immediate Relative cases; only the petition person will get a visa. It takes about 6-12 months for you to petition for a parent. It will take 10-12 years for you to petition for your siblings.
