Hi All,

My finacee just had the interview at the New Delhi, India consulate. She was asked 4-5 basic questions.. Where did you meet, Where does you fiancee work, etc which she promptly answered. Then they took all the forms, support documents but didn't ask to see any relationship proof such as pictures, call logs that she had. Engagement pictures were already attached to the original I129 . Then the CO said nicely "ok, I am all done" and asked to go to a different counter to submit the fee draft, finger prints, etc. At the end she was send to another counter and was handed a letter which has the case number on top (no form number) and says "Your case must go mandatory administrative processing... We have kept your passport to speed up the process... and it will be send back via vfs with the visa...". There is no 221g mentioned anywhere nor she was asked to submit any additional documents. With the whole process she got the feeling that everything went "okay" and and administrative process was just a normal thing and she was good to go but now of course searching for "administrative processing" brings up interesting results. At at end she did ask how long it will take and they said 3-4 weeks.

Now, I read many posts here where they were asking to submit additional stuff but my question it what does it mean when they didn't ask her to submit anything else? Any suggestions?

She has never been or applied to US before.

We both have never been married to anyone before.

I have visited her twice within the last year (first of which times we got engaged)

Her name is not a common name :) Infact according to google there may be only 2 out there in the world :)

She is not older than me and I am in my late 20's :)

Speaks fluent english :)

What I have heard and been told from some other users that have gone through New Delhi is that AP is pretty common and they are doing an extra background check or something like that since there is so much fraud reported from New Delhi. I hope someone else can give you more specific insight...I'm just giving you information I've read and heard as I'm still waiting for NOA2 and will be going through Mumbai.

New Delhi being a high fraud Embassy, even for a single little red flag, the case will be in AP.

Per your list at the end, you don't have any common flags that will put your case in AP, but you never know.

It is good thing now Embassy has kept her passport. Keep your hopes high "easier to say", let Embassy keep its course.

Hope you are out of AP sooner than you think. Good luck.

okay after 6 hours she got a call from the consulate and they told her that they will be sending her an email with additional information that they need. They also said that most of the items won't apply to you so just fill out the Purpose and Resume part.

She has a MS from Biology and just completed that 5 months ago. Is that a cause for a red flag ?!?!?!?! :( We had checked "do not plan to work" and "do not plan to study" in the DS156 as there are no known employer or school yet.

Anyway, we sent the information and will see what happens. Anyone else encounter this before? The list seems from a Work visa. She has never held a job nor have we indicated a future US employer in the DS156 form.

Well, I guess this means they are doing "something" with it and its not in a black hole [yet].

Can studies cause AP or 221G/denial? Is there any chances?

Yes certain fields of study can cause AP. The denial will come only if it shows the field of study is used for illegal or bad intentions. I think the name of those checks is Mantis.
