They have Hughsnet and Starband here but the instilation and set up fee is off the hook. We have to use those big ol satellite dishes and those run mega bucks along with the set up.

With this new broadband I'l we need is a little box and a antennae thing that plugs into the USB port. Iv'e been hearing 2-3 weeks before we can sign up for it and start using it. I haven't been able to download porn since I moved here from Wasilla. Finally....

Good news. The internet is as valuable to the country now as electricity was in the 30s and this is a good benefit for the whole country. Everyone should have access to free porn.

Just another tax dollar suck on the part of Alaska. Nothing new here. I think we should just give that place back where it belongs - to Russia.

Write your Congressman. Alaska only has a single Congressman and two US senators representing it and for some reason those three seem to be the pimps of Washington. Dems though like giving us money more than the Repubs in regards to the Alaska natives, and it's the other way around when it comes to defense spending up here. Someone has to keep an eye on Russia. I can nearly see it from my back door...literally.

I wish. Me and the wife have a membership at Brown Jug Liguor Warehouse in Anchorage as do a lot of people here where you can order online and they ship it to you. But you have to place a min. $300 order and with fuel going up price of shipping here is off the hook now. The lone booze store here gets all their stuff barged in during the summer to save on shipping cost but they still hose us big time not to mention any and all beer that's sold by the end of the winter is outdated. We usually box a bunch of booze and wine up while were in Anchorage and stick it on the plane with us on the way back...that and we cut down on our drinking. We might hit the bar once or twice of month anymore if that just to get out and do a little dancing.

Those broadband towers give us 3G now with the cell phones here. That and that fiber optic cable that goes with those towers is being run down the Aleutians and over to Russia where it will head on down to China. Iv'e no idea why they are doing that but I'l take the faster and cheaper internet if they be offering it.

I just started getting my PFD checks again a few years ago. They dicked me on student loan payments from back in '90. With interest and however they figure out those Alaska student loans, I payed more and longer on those than I did on my land. They even jacked a few of my IRS returns for that loan even though they told me I was all payed up on it two years before.
