Learning about politics puts you into a minority. Most Americans have no clue what's going on. Not here at home, let alone outside these borders. Want to do small talk, pick a sport Americans care about and you're all set. All you need to know about politics around here is that taxes suck and that the government spends too much money. That's it.

I am not yet a USC and if someday I decide to be, do I have to learn to talk about American politics?

How could I start becoming a politics junkie?

Will it make me gain more friends in the work place and be socially attractive?

No. Why? No.

Politics is an evil #######. Best to practice purity.

Don't bother, its a facade. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don’t. You have no choice. You have owners. They own you. They own everything. They own all the important land. They own and control the corporations. They’ve long since bought and paid for the Senate, the Congress, the state houses, the city halls. They have the judges in their back pockets and they own all the big media companies, so they control just about all of the news and information you get to hear. They have you by the balls. They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying. Lobbying to get what they want.

If you want to live longer, leave politics out of your life.

Start with programs such as Star Search, American Idol, and Jersey Shore. It's where most Americans get their education.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

In the workplace, I would avoid talking about politics, religion or any other controversial topic. It can get you into trouble.

I noticed that people like to talk about big news stories where I work (other than politics), like the Casey Anthony trial when it was going on, or the Italian Cruise Shipwreck. They can talk about this stuff until blue in the face.

Another no-fail topic is FOOD.

Instead castaway any feelings for soccer and embrace American Football. That's a mostly harmless way to get into passionate debates at work.
