Be prepared to be videotaped

Surprisingly, I've never seen anyone mention this yet but I feel it is important. They will have a video camera right in your faces- be prepared for this and don't let it make you more nervous...

Was this at a Stokes Interview or a "normal" first interview? I believe videotaping happens often at the more in-depth interviews, but I don;t think I heard of it at standard AOS interviews before.

You haven't heard it because it's not the norm. Generally it's only done for more in-depth interviews where they have suspicions, though I suppose it may also be done for training or other purposes.

We were videotaped for a standard AOS interview. (See my interview review.) Our IO informed me of the camera almost in passing after she swore me in. I'm pretty sure that our lawyer told us that was pretty standard right before we went in, so I don't remember being particularly surprised (my wife just confirmed that: our lawyer had told us to expect to be videotaped, as it was part of the normal routine).

Maybe different offices do things differently.

It definitely is the norm - every interview room at Cinci had camera in it, I was videotaped too.

I suppose it depends on location, then. Certainly not the norm here nor in most reviews I've seen from various offices. Interesting about Cincinnati, though!

Room I was interviewed in was the very last one in the corridor, so was looking around walking through it, very curious how the place looks like ;-) My interview was regular too (in fact I was approved 2 months after sending in the AOS package).

I wasn't videotaped in the Houston office...wonder why they have different rules for different offices?

In Dominican Republic, there are cameras everywhere watching your every move, behaviors with your partner, etc....I figured it was normal and wasn't surprised actually.

Videotaped or surveillance cameras? I expect surveillance cameras are fairly regular at government offices. Since this was within the US for your AOS....either way, I assume they informed you at the begining of the interview that this would take place? Or they have signs up?

Surveillance cameras everywhere, and a video camera on a tripod about 3 feet from your faces. They tell you, but it still can make you more nervous than necessary.
