My fiance had her interview today in Phnom Penh. She arrived outside the embassy at 7am. They did paper work screening to make sure you have all the documents that is needed. She said a lot of people had problems with the paperwork so they couldn't proceed. I knew our paperwork was correct when I didn't get a call from her for a few hours. After, she waited a couple hours before they called her up for an interview.

Proof we provided were: Pictures with me visiting her on 4 different occasions in the past year and a half, pictures of us traveling to Thailand, and engagement pictures. Total pictures was about 30. Boarding pass of me and her traveling together. Call log provided from Rebtel before there were iPhone apps that let you talk for free. A few iPhone Viber screen shots of the iPhone of us still talking on the phone. Didn't print a whole chat log, just provided snapshots of conversation subjects.

My fiance wanted to conduct the interview in Khmer because she thinks her English isn't good enough. The CO can understand and speak Khmer but the CO didn't believe that I spoke Khmer. CO wanted to conduct the interview with my fiance in English. My fiance told her she speaks a little English only. My fiance said we communicate in English / Khmer when we talk. CO didn't believe I can speak and understand Khmer. She promised the CO. The CO told her to promise her and my fiance promised her. Moving forward they asked basic questions, how we met, my job, siblings, when I came to visit her, what I do on my free time. For example, if you answer that he likes to go to the gym or watch movies, then they will ask you what his favorite movie is or the name of the gym he goes to. If she doesn't know, then just answer honestly and say you never discussed it. CO reviewed some pictures and asked a couple questions where we went. At the end, CO asked her if everything she told was truthful, my fiance promised the CO everything was. They told her to come back next week to pick up the visa. The interview room was pretty open so you can hear other people interview. She said people failed for number of reasons such as not knowing answers to questions they should know. She thought she was one of the few that passed that day. Overall, the embassy and interview went well.
