Hi guys,

I have a question regarding unemployment for Greencard holders.

Should Greencard holders file unemployment with Social Security?

What the cons and pros of file unemployment?

Will this action hurt your situation for applying 10 yrs Greencard (after 2yr conditional GC) or applying for citizenship in the future?

Thank you so much.

XH

P.S. It is difficult to land an ideal job right now in the States. However, I hope everyone who is on the job market stay positive!!! It is very important to have optimistic attitude no matter how tough your situation is.

To claim unemployment you must have been employed for a certain amount of time and terminated through no cause of your own. It is an insurance that your employer pays into. Contact your local employment office for more information.

I'd too be interested to know how Social Security relates with unemployment.

When I first saw the title, my first reaction was wondering how the Nazis fit with unemployment.
