actually I called 800-375-5283

The guy told me they are working on the cases between 05/16 to 06/16, consistent with what other people posted.

And he refused to file a service request for me (my case started in the first week of Aug).

Why do they not accept my application for service request?

I am writing to my congressmen now, I suggest all applicants are screwed up do the same thing.

they wont put in a service request because right now you are within normal processing times. when they told you that they are working on cases between 05/16 to 06/16 that means anything filed after those dates are within the normal timeframe. your congressman will be told the same thing

The reason they refused is in your original post they are working on May and June petitions and August is time have not arrived. So when they will start reviewing 08/16 to 09/16 you will be able to put the service request in. Hopefully you will not need to do that as your NOA2 will already arrive.

Why do the processing times on this website say they're working on cases from Oct 2011?

my guess would be that oct 2011 is the average of all VJ members doing CR-1 or IR-1 at CSC. there are more approved october, november and december filers than august or september. since they approve some cases really fast they keep the average at the 5 month mark and that´s also what you see on VJ under processing times. Go to Igor´s list. There you´ll see all approved and unapproved petitions...

Why do the processing times on this website say they're working on cases from Oct 2011?

this is why the "average processing date" that you see on here is so different to what CSC or VSC will tell you...

when you are working on averages, this kinda thing makes it quite unreliable

I already did (I'm early July) and my congressman (John Boehner) was told it would be an additional 30 days at least (as of January 6)
