I just wanted to give some hope to those waiting. I received an email on 1/17/12 that we have NOA2 approval! I sent our package on 10/15/11, received NOA1 on 10/21/11. We didn't expect to hear anything for 5-6 months (especially with any slow down for the US holidays) and figured anything sooner would be a gift. Wow, we really didn't expect anything this soon. The email said we were approved 1/13/12. I logged in to our USCIS account and it had the same info. Now we are waiting on the hard copy in the mail and getting documents together for package 3. I suggest everyone waiting on VSC start working on package 3 things are seem to be moving fast these days! Good luck!

Is there anything unique about your case that may have causes this ? Anything out of the routine?

Congratulations man. I really hope that I get as lucky as you. I think I'll receive my NOA1 in the mail sometime this week (saw my check was cashed last week). I wonder what causes certain cases to go through so quickly. I'm hoping my fiance's 2 previous J1 student visas will have an effect. Maybe they will have most of her information in the database already. It would be interesting to know how certain petitions go through so fast.

I hope my petition being sent to Vermont is a good thing too :) I'm also curious how some get processed so quickly. My current theory is that they have a quota of so many petitions to approve/deny each day and they just grab whichever box is closest to their desk and try to find the less complicated ones.

I think you're right! It actually makes a lot of sense. I hope I make it into one of those boxes. My check was cashed Monday Knope, so it looks like we'll be on a similar timeline with all this. I'm hoping my NOA1 hardcopy gets here either tomorrow or Thursday. Did your receipt number work when you input it onto the USCIS website?
