Can't you get an official letter from your university?

I can get an official enrollment confirmation from my uni printed on school official paper stating student number, social security number, study program, expected graduation date along with transcripts.

I am gonna ask my department to write a letter stating that I am currently working on my master thesis which is due in summer too.

Yes I should be able to get that no problem, in terms of employment do you think that a proof of employment letter would be enough or do they need tax returns and stuff as well? I don't make enough to pay taxes so I would only be able to get a proof of employment letter unless I change my job lol.

Hi Mrs5k,

I'm so sorry you had to go through this experience. I'm really glad you posted though because my fiance and I are trying to do something similar to what you did that you were refused to. We have his flight all booked and he should arrive in Chicago on Feb. 8 from London for 87 days. Our situation is a bit different though since we've filed for a K1 fiance visa and I'm hoping that might actually work in our favor because logically, overstaying a visa would harm the process that we started nearly two months prior to his date of arrival. He's planning on bringing: flight itinerary showing return flight, copy of the I129-F submission and NOA1, copy of a letter from his employer, utility bill, cell phone bill, bank statement, medical insurance showing being in effect for 87 days, etc. Hopefully this will suffice

The whole argument I have though is if Customs' main priority is making sure people don't immigrate under the VWP or overstay their visa, this shouldn't be an issue since he has to go back to England for the medical exam as part of the visa process anyway and any overstay would hurt what we've worked so hard for.

Anyway, I have some questions for you:

- Do you mind saying what airport you tried to go through?

- Did you have a connecting flight in another country or was it direct (I've heard of issues with other passports coming from Canada)?

- Did customs let you call your boyfriend? How did they notify him?

- Is he just a boyfriend or have you applied for a fiance visa, etc?

- Did you have to pay for your flight home?

Good luck to you though and I hope it all works out.
