Just wanted to share tips based on my K1 visa exprience. Here are my tips on how to prepare ourselves for the interview which i think is very important for every applicant to know, well, this is based on my experience. I did my K1 Visa Interview last january 13, 2012.

These tips work to those who have interview at 6 am.

  1. Make yourself busy the day before the interview so that you dont think too much about the interview.
  2. Dont sleep in the afternoon, just continue making yourself busy. Its better if you get tired because you will feel sleepy at night.
  3. It's important that you should not sleep too late the night before the interview because you will need to wake up very early.
  4. I was very nervous and i tried to ignore the feeling but i really cant. My advise is don't think too much about the visa. Actually there is really nothing to worry at all if your relationship is real. It was really funny that i was very worried about the interview. K1 visa is not like a job interview. They will talk to you in a casual way just like a normal conversation. They are very accommodating inside the embassy.
  5. Don't worry about the papers, if you miss something it will only cause delay but not totally denied.

I met me fiance 3 years ago. Although there's no doubt the we really love each other and really wanted to be together, we still decided to wait until our relationship became matured enough and more prepared for marriage life before we file for the K1 visa. Getting married and moving to US is a very serious matter. We are not Teens anymore to make immature decisions in our lives.

Base on my own experience and friends' stories, i can say that some applicants get denied because they are not qualified for some reasons. Although they knew already that they are not qualified for K1 visa, like for example the petitioner is not financially qualified, to many problems with their documents or their relationship is very immature., they still insist and continue applying for it. There is no reason to hurry unless you are only after the "Green card." True love can wait if you really want to be with him "FOREVER". Why so hurry to go to US? My advise is "WAIT".... Wait for the right time coz ALL GOOD THINGS ARE WORTH WAITING FOR!

  6. US Embassy is newly renovated, the environment inside the building is very spacious and wont make you feel stress. If you feel you want to go to toilet dont worry coz toilets are just behind the waiting area. If your number flashed while you are inside the toilet, dont worry coz its will flash again so many times and a lady will shout your number and will look for you.

This is such a nice post, very informative and encouraging. And I really like your last phrase. It is true, great things are worth waiting for. Like you, my fiance (now my husband) waited 3 years before filing the petition. By that time, we both really know each other and on the same page of our goals in life, we want to be together.

There are others who I cannot understand, what's the rush if it would just be a red flag on the CO, especially if they have been matched by a close relative here, the more that CO might suspect that the applicant is only up for green card.

Anyways, best wishes on your married and US life.

Love conquers everything!!!
