Hi ,

I had a question regarding convictions in vawa cases. Have there been cases where abusers have been convicted because of a VAWA petition filed by the abused? This is for those abusers who have never been convicted of any crime but have committed only bigamy. Will the VAWA officials provide this information to the law enforcement officials considering the abuser never had any prior domestic violence or criminal convictions or any pending criminal investigations? Can the abuser file for the first spouse who is living abroad? Is any one aware of the consequences if the abuser files for petition while there is an ongoing vawa petition?

Bear in mind that the abuser is already a citizen and committed bigamy after obtaining the citizenship. So the abuser won't lose the citizenship or get deported. I know that VAWA has a privacy act, will all this information be protected and kept confidential?

Thanks in advance for the responses.
