Hey everyone!

So I'm a bit confused. I know after my K1 petition is approved, it is sent to the NVC and then forwarded the the US Consulate, in my case, in Rio de Janeiro. Anyhow, I have seen posts about people getting interview dates from the NVC once they have their case number... I know that Rio sends out their interview dates in the packet to the applicant, but is this date coming from the NVC?

Not sure about Brazil, but once your packet is registered at NVC (for the Philippines) you can get your case number and schedule your appointment. You don't have to wait on the Embassy to send out packet or for the packet to get to the embassy.

For K1 visas interviews are at the embassy.

My bad... I meant embassy... The waiting is finally getting to me!

NVC will give you your RDJ number which is your case number in Rio. After about 7 days after you got your RDJ# you can send an email to the embassy in Rio to ask if they scheduled your interview yet or not.

They'll mail a letter (packet 4) with the interview date to the beneficiary's address in Brazil, but that may never arrive... so I recommend that you email them and ask.

good luck!
