Hi,

after you get the NOA1, is there anywhere where one can check the status of the petition? or there's nothing to do but wait for the NOA2?

thanks!

You can check the status on the USCIS website by creating a profile and entering your receipt number. It isn't always reliable but it is the only way to check the status other than calling.

Hi!

I understand your problem. The national average is 5 months. You can goto the USCIS.gov and get the average time for the service center handling your petition. They recommend you don't call the service center until the 5 months time limit has expired before inquiring on the status of your petition. I filed my back in late Sept 2011. I know Vermont has approved about 50% of the petitions submitted. This based on people updating their timelines on VJ. If your lucky you might get your (NOA2) it approved in 30 days but must people get lucky and have somekind of answer within 120 days. Just try to be patient and follow other people's timelines in VJ. Use this time to gather evidence of the relationship to send your fiance' and prep for the interview. I suggest start viewing the different forums (country, embassy, medical exams, interview questions) to see what people did to get their visa.

Good Luck

Michael
