The only really important requirements is

1) you are a US citizen

2) you have met each other at least once in the last two years before filing the petition.

So you haven't met in a long time, how long is that exactly?

Hi!

I got engaged over the summer with my distant cousin. He lives in Afghanistan. He proposed me and I agreed.

Congrats

But i havent met him in a long time.

Met within the last two years so you're good, hope you have proof of that meeting.

And I don't really have any prove of engagement.

Not needed.

We have been chatting and speaking over the phone.

Fine but may need more proof of relationship, but that's for the interview and not needed now.

I am planning on getting married over the summer.

Not likely, using a K-1 visa. You need to Read the Guides and do more homework on the various visas possible and the various processes.

I want to start his process as soon as possible but I don't have any prove! what should I do????

REad the Guides and the Sticky Notes and determine which visa is best for you.

You don't have enough time to get married on a K-1 visa this sumer anyway. If you haven't seen him in two years, you must do that first as well.

You can get married this summer in Afganistan and file a spousal petition.

I share Harpa Timsah's opinion. Go to Afghanistan, get married, then file as soon as you get home!

Congrats and Best of Luck!

Hi,

It is better to file for K1 visa meaning fiance visa it is faster for him to come here if you file marriage visa it will take almost 2 years for him to get here . first go and meet him keep your ticket so you can send that with your docs. Also keep track of your emails and phone call list if possible that will help you too. You need to get a signed letter from him and you need to do the same saying that you two will get married within 3 month once he is here. but first step is that you need to go and meet him in person and have pictures and your air ticket proof. Good Luck :)!!

There is very little difference in time for a Finance(e) visa versus a Spousal visa. Where did you come up with 2 years?

Then you can't find for fiancé visa, unless you fly there and meet him once before filing. If you haven't met at all, I think you will have a big problem proving bonafide relationship anyway. In that case, fly there, get married and file for spousal visa might be a better way...
