Since I'm here...

Thoughts on good vodka? For some time I've been under the (mis-)impression that Gray Goose is about the finest vodka you can buy at a reasonable price point. I recently tried Svedka , and I'm ready to pour the rest of my Gray Goose down the drain. VERY smooth, great taste, and you can get a giant bottle of it at Costco for a very reasonable price.

Other favorite vodkas?

I don't have a terribly sophisticated vodka palate, but I like Hangar One. It's from California! Does that mean it's not the real deal?

I'll have to try Svedka.

Mmmm...booze.

At the Grey Goose price point I actually prefer Level. Going cheaper, Sobieski is an excellent choice. For anything involving mixing its great (impossible to beat at its price point imo), and can be found for as little as $10. I know, $10? good? no way! I thought the same thing, but give it a chance and youll be surprised.

We really enjoy Khortytsa. It is Ukrainian and very smooth. I actually prefer their Pepper Honey Hot version, but it is quite difficult to find. I have to drive about 100 miles to get it, so I usually combine a business trip with a visit to that certain liquor store that carries Khortytsa.

One of our friends bought me a bottle of Russian Standard. Oh my god, what a harsh taste. It reminds me of the standard American vodkas and is close to rubbing alcohol. :o

I'm not a vodka connoisseur by any means, but I was always Smirnoff guy when it came to vodka until I tried Grey Goose a few years back and it's about as smooth as they come in regards to vodka.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Ugh. Can't stand Smirnoff, even as a mixer.

Give Svedka a try sometime, you'll never want to touch Gray Goose again. :D

Can you get it here in the US?

Their made with potatoes grown up here in Palmer, and local berries that grow wild here. I can say for a fact though that the smoked salmon vodka they make up here taste horrible, but the others are pretty good imo. Edited by Why_Me
