Time Frame for "Validity of NOA2" ??

On my NOA2, to the right, fourth box down,... it says :

"Notice Type: Approval Notice"

"Valid from 12/30/2011 to 04/29/2012"

My question/concern is a bit vague. I'm wondering...many things, because of so many variables that we read about on VJ...

What are the probabilities?

Does everyone get assigned a 'time frame', there?

Is it the same time frame for everyone?

Has anyone ever run into trouble because of the NVC and all the other entities that be (involved with completing the process) surpassed that time?

Is that time frame a "lock"?

There would possibly appear an unending line of questions and concerns, in regards to 'time frames', in this process. This time frame for the NOA2 VALIDITY is something I wouldn't have expected, since so much is still invovlved between the NOA2 and the interview. And, it's not all up to us - the petitioner and the beneficiary.

How does this usually play out?

07/27/2011...........NOA1 received.

12/05/2011...........RFE received.

12/13/2011...........RFE response sent.

12/16/2011...........RFE RESPONSE received by Vermont S.C.

12/22/2011...........Teased by a text-message from uscis, saying they have received my response to the RFE.

12/30/2011...........LA VISA APROVADOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

01/12/2012...........Case Sent To Bogota Colombia, from the National Visa Center.

02/09/2012...........Schedule Interview.

03/23/2012...........Interview (to take place then)!

04/07/2012...........Arrived in USA.

07/01/2012...........MARRIED!

What next?

.......How the days DO slip away!

If I understand the validity date, you(petitioner) and fiance' (beneficanary) have 4 months to gather the necessary information tax returns, proof of relationship, medical exam, etc... and schedule your interview before 4/29/2012. If you don't get your interview scheduled by then you might have to file another petition over again! You can ask for extension at the consulate you fiance' will be getting his/her interview at if 4 months is not enough time to prove your case. That is all! Good Luck!

I'm concerned a bit about this, because I have a particular personal issue, for which I may need a One Month extension, delay for the interview (she's going to love that, eh! :help: )

You should be able to extend the petition for 4 months. There is a one year limit on petition extension and you must have the interview within one year of petition approval. Here is a link of a sample letter to send to the embassy. http://www.visajourney.com/examples/extend-approval.doc. I would call the embassy first and make sure they will allow an extension.

Don't let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.

validity date defaults to 4 months, give or take a few days.

If any issues on scheduling at the IV UNIT - usually the IV unit will automatically extend the validity end date without your involvement.

is possible to extend the validity date by YOU asking for it, as well, of the IV unit,in case you need an interview date past the validity date (this is done, as well)

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Not making any assumptions, here... What does the IV unit stand for? (Inter-View? no? other?)

I've printed out the form letter of Extension Request, provided by Spectec (Thanks, Spectec!)

I will send it off to the Embassy in Bogota, ans also a copy to my fiance.

And, will ask her to call, or go and contact them, to see if the extension is granted.

That is the part I'm a bit uncomfortable with: Getting an Approval for the Request for Approval Extension.

Someone said, you could be on the phone, calling for hours and hours, before someone answers the phone at this embassy.

Or..... just send the Request, and hope for the best?

Any other recommendations or comments?

IV unit - Immigrant Visa unit - the office at the US Embassy/Consulate where the foreign beneficiary interviews for a visa.
