Estimate for NOA2

I turned in my I-129F in early December and my NOA2 estimate is end of May and it keeps pushing back further each week.

I know the average is 5 months but in my case it's almost 6 months. Is this normal?

I believe they are working on August filers. I'm wondering are others getting similar estimate for the NOA2?

thanks

if you look at the time lines on VJ currently most are being approved around 6 month time frame.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

The estimate dates on VJ are JUST estimates based on what is put on here by VJ members, and isn't a perfect estimation. It should also be taken with a pinch of salt since the number of people who use the Timeline feature is just a small fraction of the total number of petitions and applicants. The best thing to suggest here is to sit and wait, as the USCIS won't tell you any more than "5 Months" unless they are behind.

I've seen use of the word guesstimate. It fits well into the waiting for NOA2. It goes up and down for the service centers, last year around this time it was the same with VSC, then CSC, then they pick up and slow down(so it seems). I'd say when it's this early after submitting the petition, try to get the best out of the waiting by not focusing too much on time lines. It's like boiling an egg and you stand around waiting for it to be done. Takes forever!

:)

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

Click timeline or "about me" for all details.

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days

VJ estimate is based on timeline statistics and it is re-computed as the timelines are updated to reflect the current trend. A lot of people don't update their timeline here. Even A LOT more people don't even use this forum.

CSC completes ~ 2000 I129F cases per month which means the timeline data on VJ here only represents about ~5% or less of all of the actual cases, but it does give quite a reasonably accurate trend nevertheless.

You should definitely not make any plan based on the estimate and IMO you should just take it with a grain of salt. Your NOA2 can come weeks sooner or weeks later.

Without expedition or RFE, my guesstimate is that NOA2 will come 4-6 months after NOA1 ( USCIS's expressed processing time of 5 months +- 30 days)

Last spring CSC was averaging 3 months or less. I know many people who had it in that time frame. Now 5+ months? I know they move focus from certain visas at different times of the year, but I don't know.

Guys! This is normal seasonal cycle. I see this every year. If you file in February/March - wait is the shortest - about 2-3 months to NOA2. If you file July-August-September - wait is the longest - 5-6 months, which is normal, and it is EVERY YEAR. The reason is that most people apply for I129F in July/August/September for one or another reason (maybe, falling in love in Spring or something). USCIS cannot hire more people just to process July/August/September, so be patient. NOAS2 will be coming soon!

I hit 6 months Jan 15th, 2012. Called USCIS December 15 and they said they were processing cases from June 16th, 2011. I called again yesterday, and they said they're still processing cases from June 16 2011.

DO NOT MAKE PLANS if your plans require waiting on USCIS. They're backed up a LOT longer than 5 months and they cannot give you an estimate.
