How long to wait before calling to inquire about case status?

FI and I are waiting for our NOA2. We received NOA1 on Sept 6, and the processing times on VJ indicate that VSC is currently doing applications with NOA1 dates from Sept 16, 10 days after ours. We haven't heard anything yet, and our estimated time frame was Dec 29 to Jan 8. Should I call and ask about our case even though it hasn't been 5 months yet? Or should I wait until the 5 month mark? Thanks for any help.

There is no harm in calling, you have already waited longer than some who filed after you. At worst they will say call back as it is still being processed or to just wait, at best they will give you an update and more information.

Ours was received on August 15 in Vermont, so I called today and offically they said my petition was within the normal processing time, as they are working on peittions received July 10. I was told to call back in 36 to 40 days. The processing times on here are just estimates based on when people update their timelines, so it can be somewhat diheartening when you hear that the dates are not what you thought they were.

you can call them all you want but i think you will end up even more frustrated after the phone call than you are now. yes there are people who filed after you that have already been approved... but there are also people who filed before you that are still waiting.

after reading through a lot of posts since i joined VJ i have come to one conclusion... every phone call you make and every answer you dont get leads to more and more frustration and anger.

OP... Anyone could call at at 5 months, but yeah, you'll find you'll get the same answer as everyone here. But, by all means, try if it makes you feel better...give it a try. Though, it tends to make people more frustrated. I would personally inquire at 6 months.
