Well, i had my interview today. Got there with the wife and the kid one minute before my appointment, signed in and was called in immidiately by a middle aged white man. He tooks us to his office and after swearing us in he told us that we had been married for almost 3 years now, so he's approving the i-130 right there, asked for the kid's birth certificate and made copies of it, then asked me the few yes and no questions on the form, told me that the green card will be in the mail in 2 weeks, advised me not to travel abroad untill i have my card in my hand. He asked what kind of visa i entered with, and what status do i have now, i told him that i just finished my degree before applying AOS, so i was a student untill the application for AOS, which i thought desolves all status. He also told me that the green card will be the 10 year card because we've been married more than 2 years now. The whole interview lated 3 minutes. Then he escorted us out and we were basically in and out in 15 minutes. That intervier was very friendly and he made me feel so much better, i was expecting Gunnery Sgt. Hartman but he was nothing like that, very friendly and professional. Good.

The detroit service center experience has been great, they were nice and professional when i went for biometrics and same when i went for interview. Also not to mention that they have to deal with a large amount of very diverse cultures there. But it all went well, now i am happy and i await my green card, so i can go to canada and see my sister, havent seen her in 10 years.

I would like to thank everybody who has ever shared information on this website, although i dont reply much or start topics, i read quite a bit here, and it has helped me understand the process and to calm me down over it. Thanks much everybody, enjoy your lives. Have fun.

I got my green card today, Jan 25th 2012. So it took just over three months for the whole process, given that we had no hiccups what so ever, all went well, 10 year green card, now it's only forward from here.

Yep, the appointment was on 11/04/2011 and the street address of that USCIS office is 11411 Jefferson Ave. I told that to the lady at the biometrics and she laughed, she says you're the 2nd person who noticed that, it's good luck. I'm like YAY!

Congratulations! Our interview was also Detroit, back in November, and we had a very similar (polite, quick) experience. I was actually pleasantly surprised at the kindness of the staff there, even right down to the security at the front door.

Just curious, what was your status in Oct 2011? Were you on your OPT when you filed for AoS?

I was on a student visa, F-1. My schooling ended in August 2011. No OPT. I had 60 days after that to either enroll in another school or change status. I applied for AOS within a month. But i was married to a USC for 2 years and 7 months when i applied for AOS. We also have an 19 month old boy.
