Yulia just past her interview for the K-1 in Moscow today!! It lasted all of 3 minutes. We are so excited.

So, I am buying her ticket here now (for about one month from now) and have a question. She will layover at JFK before coming on to Atlanta. Will this be her POE? I am asking because I have a choice between a 2 hour layover and a 4 hour layover. Will Atlanta be the place where she presents packet and visa for entry, or do I need to leave her plenty of time in JFK for that?

Thanks.

A very happy Jonathan)

Hey "A Very happy Jonathan", I am glad Yulia passed her interview. Congratulations to you guys!

To answer your question, JFK will be Yulia's POE. The first port in the US air space is described as the POE. You do need to leave her plenty of time in JFK so that the CBP can process her K-1 packet. I know how anxious you might be to see her but hey, you have waited for so long, 2 hours will not matter.

You guys have fun and Congratulations once again!

POE is first port into the USA so from your description her POE would be JFK, not ATL.

Will suggest you to go with 4 hours layover. Lets say if she has to catch her Atlanta flight from LGA airport or any other NYC airport, so it may 30-45 min for bus travel.

I also suggest 4 hours. I read how so many people spent only 15 minutes with CBP and how much of a breeze POE was. I hoped for the same, but I planned for potential issues. I chose a 3 hour layover and I'm glad I did. We spent 1 hour in customs in Miami because there were many people waiting ahead of us. You'll want to leave plenty of time for her to get through security again and to find her next flight. Also, I considered any potential delays with our initial flight's departure and arrival into Miami.
