Congress has an 84% rating of disapproval

WASHINGTON - Lawmakers will return here today to begin an election-year work session with low expectations for any significant legislative action while also receiving even lower approval ratings for themselves.

A new Washington Post-ABC News poll indicates that a record 84 percent of Americans disapprove of the job Congress is doing, with almost two-thirds saying they "disapprove strongly." Just 13 percent of Americans approve of how things are going after the 112th Congress' first year of action, solidifying an unprecedented level of public disgust that has both sides worried about their positions less than 10 months before voters decide their fates.

It has been nearly four years since even 30 percent expressed approval of Congress, according to the Post-ABC survey, and support hasn't recovered from the historic low it reached last fall. The poll was taken Thursday through Sunday and had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

The current Republican run congress has refused to do thier job. They effectively stalled the country hoping to delay all decisions until thier party is back in office. The Tea party needs to be a separate party like the Green party. It should not be considered as part of the republican party. Hopefully the people who vote will remember what a lousy job they did and replace as many of them as possible. Right now I do not feel I have anyone representing my interests in Washington. It is time for politicians to stop allowing special interet groups and lobbyists rule this country. It is time for us to elect politicians who will actually represent us.

These polls are always useless. People dislike congress because they think all of members of congress other than their own representative suck.
