I am waiting for Packet 4 to arrive for my fiance in Thailand. Packet 3 never reached her and was returned to the Embassy. I received an email (Nov 22, 2011) from the Embassy notifying me that Packet 3 was returned and to confirm the address. I sent an email back to the embassy immediately with the address I have of my finance. I have sent her cards etc. so I know that I have the right address. I also sent a couple of emails requesting confirmation that the address of my fiance has been updated but no replies. It has been almost a month now.

She said she received a call from the company the Embassy uses to reach out to the Thai citizens and they said that she should receive a call about the interview date around Jan 15, 2012.

I have read through the Guides about Packet 4 and never heard of the embassy calling to inform the Thai citizen of the interview date.

What are my options? What would you do to find out if Packet 4 was mailed out? I definitely do not want Packet 4 to be returned by the Post office (after the experience with Packet 3). Do I need to schedule an interview via PIN#? Or does the embassy send you a interview date in Packet 4?

Thanks,

Afzal.

Packet 4 is the interview date letter. You do not need a pin number to set the interview date.

Thai mail system is not what it should be as you have seen. She could go to her P O to check to see if the hard copy is there. My mail was held by my P O for no reason a few times. I found it myself just before it was to be sent back.

I have seen recent cases where P 4 was done by email.

Your finace can buy a pin number at any post office that allows her X amount of phone calls direct to the visa section of the embassy. Its about 15 dollars.

Additional try using the email address visasbkk2@state.gov to contact them.

Hi Ning, I have somewhat similar experience with the poor mailing system, sadly. My packet 3 mail arrived to me 2 days after after I sent my collected packet 3 docs. Glad I have been persistent emailing the IV section. that was like 3 weeks after they replied to my email inquiry. Sent my packet 3 dec 6 up until now I got no packet 4 from them.

Thank you for your replies. We will wait to hear back from them via email. I will also try calling them during work hours. Can i talk to anyone in the embassy or move up to tier 2 customer service or something?

Thanks,

Afzal.

Emails are screened by Thai staff most of the time. The email I gave you goes to the officers as far as I know.

Ask that your call be directed to the IV unit inside the embassy. If you dont find out what you need to know try buying the pin number so she can call them directly.

Lastly if you dont get what you want try going thru the consulate section duty officer. That office is directly across the street from the embassy itself. They do not work on visas but sometimes can help American citizen in these situations. My husband recieved assistance from them in our case for example.
