Where do I find the "A" number in my wife's K1 information? We are trying to file for AOS.

I have a form I-797, Notice of Action with a number in the Beneficiary box that looks like this: A123 456 789 with her name underneath.

Some people in this forum have said that either the number on the I-797 or the number on the I-94 (Admission Number) can be used. However, the number on the I-94 is different. It is something like 1234567 89 12. Shouldn't they both be the same number?

in the visa, glued into the passport, there's a registration number, yes? That's her A#, for the stuff you need.

But hey - check it, compare it with the rest of the documents you have.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Trust only the NOA2. As you've seen with your I-94 any other location is open to human error.

The I-94 Number is never the same as the A-Number. It is different on each entry. Go with the I-797 NOA1 and NOA2. It should be the same A# on both.

The officer at POE sometimes writes the A number on the I-94, so they're talking about that rather than the arrival/departure number. There is no A number on the NOA1. The A number isn't issued until/unless the petition is approved.
