The biggest difference between a 60 FPS rating at a 120 FPS is the smoothness of the faster motion that you see. If there's a lot of *very* fast-moving things that you'll be watching (particularly sports or video gaming), the 120 FPS makes much more sense than 60 FPS. Most base film is recorded at lower FPS (for instance, The Hobbit's being shot at 48 FPS for 'more realism', most tv/movies are shot more like 24-30 FPS), so if you mostly watch movies and tv shows (rather than game or watch sports) and you were considering two TVs that were identical (feature-wise, save for frame rate), I don't think you're really getting your money's worth (assuming the 120FPS tv costs more) if you watch mostly movies and tv shows on your TV.

That said, the easiest way to see the difference is go to an electronics store some time and compare a 60hz tv and a 120hz tv, see for yourself. See if they'll let you watch broadcast HD air channels, so you can get a feel for how something other than their demo looks.

Kid says his 60 Hz is terrible with video games. Net says the Plasma is the best, LG is now claiming over 100,000 hours of life with their new plasmas, is interlaced scanning but at 600 Hz refresh rates.

Energy guide on my 60" LG is 40 bucks a year, lowest is 31, highest is 79 bucks. With my sharp eyes, feel plasma has the best picture. Also the cheapest, $1,600.00 retail, got it for $800.00 with free home delivery, not bad since we live 50 miles from the store. A bit to large to fit inside of my Geo Metro.

Talk about 3D, only a handful to watch and can live without special effects, watched that at the store for five minutes, got bored.

South Korea is becoming number one in products now, like cars and electronics, that is where LG is made. Son that works in Japan tells me worse than here for the big corporations shipping out jobs to 3rd world countries. Can believe that, my nine month old Sony Blu-ray crapped out, rather than wait months for warranty, took it apart to see a terrible soldering job, touched it all up, and working again.

Plasma is exxcellent technology for 50"+ screens and you're right, they do look good. The blacks are generally better than an lcd and you don't get any blurring motion on fast action.

I'm not sure but my new TV is 600 HZ tongue_ss.gif

The 3D looks even more 3D than at the movie theaters. But the movies are $30 a pop and the selection is terrible....The 3D is pointless right now, maybe in a few years Netflix will have all their movies 3D compatible and then it might be worth it..

India, gun buyback and steamroll.

Does non 3D media look good on it too? Would you say it as good as a comparable set without 3D?

I don't think HZ should be a deciding factor on what TV to get... you more want to look at the differences between LCD, LED and Plasma... and compare the different brands...

we have 120HZ LCD Toshiba and a 60 HZ LCD LG.. I think the picture quality is better with our LG...

for our next TV I really want to get a Samsung LED TV..

I personally don't like plasmas because I think they get too hot.. when you walk be them in the store it is almost like walking by a fireplace :P

Yes, it is a regular HD TV just like all the others. Just has the ability to go from 2D to 3D.

I would say it is the exact same thing as a TV without a 3D function. Just has that feature.

I am terrible on judging TVs but we paid $900 on a 3 year Best Buy plan. We didn't pay a dime up front, just swiped the store card. For $900 it is a really good TV.

Then again my cousin got a used LCD for $200 at a pawn shop (and my dad bought this exact TV about 5 years ago for over $2500)....There is a difference but it's really not that much of a difference to me.

As far as heat and plasmas, I have never heard of such a thing. The TVs in the stores run all day long. So if you showed up at 8pm then those TVs have been on since 10am....But I could leave mine on for 10+ hours and would not notice any heat even if I was 1mm from the TV...

in the store when I have walked past a LCD or LED TV there isn't as much heat coming off of them as when you walk past a plasma...

good thing to remember, now that it's wintertime - i think i'll go hug a plasma tv.
