Getting really frustrated!

Hi All,

Waiting for a reschedule appointment from GUZ China since Nov. 6 and have still heard nothing. I emailed them for an update Jan. 3 and have still not received any contact from the Consulate at all. Is this normal for GUZ to take this long to perform a reschedule???

To give some background we originally received an appointment date of Oct. 31 for GUZ. We were surprised because that was only 35 days after we filed the I-130 app. When my wife went for her medical exam 1 week before the appointment they found an infection that needed to be treated before they would issue the health certificate They informed us that this would take 3 weeks to complete so, we had to notify the consulate that we needed to postpone the interview. They responded that this was ok and that we should contact them when we were ready to continue. When I emailed them back on Nov. 6 they responded withing 2 days and said that they were continuing with the process and that we should receive an appointment letter in 1-2 months.

It has now been over 2 months. What concerns me as well is that they did not even reply to the request for information sent on Jan 3. Does anyone know if these delays are normal for a reschedule at GUZ? Is this maybe because of the holidays or could this be an indication of larger problems? Also, does anyone know if I can use the DOS phone number to get info or is that not possible because this is a DCF?

Thanks in advance.

Wife says, reschedule is a no no in GZ, you go to the back of the bus or line, her friend waited almost 1 year on a reschedule. I hope it is not do your case.

Thanks for the reply. I was afraid of that. We were told by the hospital that they were required to inform the embassy so that we could not attend the Interview on the original date. I would have rather gone and had to wait for the medical results to get approved. Was your wife's friend's interview rescheduled for medical also or was it another reason? I saw a post from another person in GZ that did not get their appointment letter in the mail and their reschedule took 1.5 months. Just hoping.

Also, for you or anyone else that may know, how many times per month does GZ do scheduling? Any ideas at all?

Nice to see someone else from Phoenix here. We have a home next to Lookout Mt. :D How has your wife adjusted to living in the incinerator in the summer? LOL

I suggest you email once a day, when the IV office is open, until you get a response.

If the interview date is already set, and you've no notice of it, well DoS Hotline will know all - is best to call in to the DoS Hotline (# in my profile), get a human, and inquire for casefile status.

Good Luck !

Follow Darnel's advice, a similar thing happened to us, and we took his advice, and emailed, and called everyday. Our initial interview was 11/10, but never received notification, and after realizing this, and reapeated emails/calls, etc. we receieved a re-schedule on 12/29, and although frustrating, the outcome was good! Hang in there.

Thanks guys. Anything at this point would be a godsend. I keep telling my wife it's not because she's from china but that feels kind of hollow now. She thinks they don't want her. :( Really sad.... She is one of the best engineers China has. I don't understand why the USA wouldn't want her... Info transfer in the correct direction!

Don't forget - you should call DoS Hotline at least twice a week now,

they have casefile status, can tell you CURRENT casefile status, though it may be a day off.

maybe it's time for a CIS cross-connect?

Fax into CIS-Guangzhou (see http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/cis.html )

and do some inquiry for casefile scheduling.

The fax MIGHT get routed to the IV unit - and that'd be a plus.

Well I finally got a response....

Thank you for your email.

Please be advised that your beneficiary's case is still under processing. Her via interview appointment will be rescheduled in about 1-2 months. Appointment notice with instructions will be sent to her as soon as the interview appointment date is set. Please advise her wait with patience.

Sincerely,

Not sure that our processed moved forward at all.... :(
