Without having being charged nor having committed a crime – and even after the authorities admitted that they had “made a mistake”, he was told that he would still have to go to Guantanamo Bay for a duration or he would have to lie and claim having a link with Osama Bin Laden, so that the authorities would in turn be able to save face.

‘I spent one year Bagram Air Base, then I was transferred to Guantanamo Bay; I was not allowed to sleep. I was not allowed to use the bathroom.
For six months they kept me in a refrigerator naked. It’s hard to explain. After spending 6 months in a refrigerator I have lost my hearing. The way I was treated…animals are not even treated this way…’

Obama said he would close this hellhole. Why hasn't he? Tell your Arab friends not to vote for Obama.

Most of my "Arab friends" aren't voting in U.S. elections as they don't even live here and aren't citizens.

Hmm, then that rules them out because the only people they would be allowed to vote for would be Democrats.

NM

So if you know anyone that is sympathetic to Arabs and can vote, tell them not to vote for Obama because he could close Gitmo by executive order tomorrow. In support of Arabs, I will not vote for Obama.

Weather you are for or against USA or local policies? Either way I don't want any bad guys back on the street, either globally (Terrorists) or in my back yard (criminals).

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

I don't know about his credibility, but what was going on at Guantanamo (and Abu Ghraib) are serious blots on our credibility.

This guy was held for more than 6 years, although

Mr. Iqbal was never convicted of any crime, or even charged with one. He was quietly released from Guantánamo with a routine explanation that he was no longer considered an enemy combatant, part of an effort by the Bush administration to reduce the prison’s population.

I wasn't for any involvement in the Balkans, or the Middle East by the US, by either Democratic, or Republican Presidents. After studying the war in Vietnam for more than a decade, I also concluded we didn't belong there either. That has colored my perspective on all these conflicts since then. We have plenty of resources to exploit in our own hemisphere, and keeping Europe in oil is really not a US concern, as much as preventing the devolution of former European colonies in Southeastern Asia was counterproductive to our investments in the region as well.
