My son and I are planning to have a vacation for 2 weeks in the Philippines on July 2012. Our green card will expire on January 1, 2013. Are we allowed to travel out of the US? Should we fill up any form to be able to do so? Please help. Thanks!

If you travel on a green card it is good for re-entry until the expiration date.

After you file ROC you will receive an NOA1 automatically extending the green card for (1) year and travelling with that NOA1 extension letter / expired green card is also acceptable.
